    Nice Oven October 07, 2008

The oven is a drop in replacement for 20 year old GE units and even includes a trim kit to make up the size difference. (The old GE oven was 1" taller). This oven gets high quality marks from Consumers Reports and my last GE lasted for 20 years. An alternative is the Frigidaire, also a nice unit with good quality specs but not a direct replacement for a old GE.

Cheap oven ~ expensive to fix August 21, 2008

This oven is no better than the older model we replaced it with. Hated to buy it but it was the only model that fit without major work to our kitchen. If you buy it, here are few suggestions: 1) Never bake pizza or something else that requires high heat (450 or up). The electronic clock control kit will crash and the oven will be completely useless. (the part costs 100-164 depending where you buy it and that does not include the service call) 2) Purchase a good service plan and renew it when it expires. It will definitely get used if you use the oven at all. Just one repair of the part I mentioned before costs 250-300 to fix. I figured out how to do it myself when my contract ran out on my older oven. 3)If possible, don't buy it. I am now thinking that it would have been worth it to have an electrician come and rewire a plug for an electric oven. Even with having the gas disconnected and the rewiring, it might have been cheaper than all the parts and service calls this thing requires.

    GE 24in Gas Built-In Wall Oven March 28, 2010

Well, I thought I was getting a good buy, and an easy replacement.  I purchased this unit about 5 years ago when I needed to replace the dated unit that came with my house.  Up until recently the oven worked fine. I had to get use to the space (kinda small compared to a traditional oven), but that was a minor adjustment.

Now, that I've grown attached to my oven it has decided to just stop heating up.

The oven comes with a 1 year warranty so, I called GE and they offered to sell me an additional 1 year warranty for about 375 dollars or a 5 year for around 500 bucks. Must be paid in full. Ouch!

Shouldn't an oven last for more than just five years?  Needless, to say I'm disappointed with the short life of my oven.  Not sure that this was a good buy after all. Upside down smile :(

    Numerous problems January 01, 2008
    via bazaarvoice
By EJmad of new york city

After 4 years the IGNITOR died. Then the OVEN SENSOR went bad. Now the CONTROL PANEL display is frozen and I tried unpluging it for more than 5 minutes to reset it to no avail. GE should refund back to all its customers who purchased this cheesy unit. They used inferior parts, and should be class action lawsuit because I know i'm not the only one with all these problems.
