This GE Cafe Gas Range is great but ITS NOT A SLIDE IN !!! February 28, 2011

We read all the reviews and purchased it anyway. All of the negative things such as plastic knobs, loud fan,ect.. must have been addressed by GE because our range is great. It has metal knobs and quiet as a Church Mouse. The exhaust fan is positioned on a slight angle so as to not blow on the flame.I heard the early models would blow on the flame...

So,we love it.I feel like we maybe paid too much and the plastic adjustible feet under it did break (for over $2,000.they should have been made out of metal).

Here is the thing though....Its NOT,NOT,NOT a Slide-in range. It is a freestanding range!!! I thought I was buying a slide-in and was told so by Two Sears Sales people and the Sears Web site.It messed me up with the Counter Top people and well...thats a long story.

Sears,FIX YOUR WEB SITE! Bad info.Nice Stove overall.

I am disappointed in this GE Cafe Range. May 25, 2010

I love the pro style and appearance which is why I bought this range.  However, the digital control panel on the front is always getting brushed against (taking it out of the 'off' mode) - it's in a bad spot.  Biggest problem I have is when I bake or roast, the oven gets the (sheet rock wall) behind it so hot, I have to constantly run my huge fan (which vents outside) to keep the heat venting out of the oven from getting my wall dangerously (burning) hot.  Even then, with the fan running, the wall is much hotter than normal.  I am petrified to put it in clean mode for fear of my wall over heating and combusting into fire.  I've been told stainless stell "conducts" heat and not to put a ss sheet on the sheet rock as it will conduct the heat through it -making it hotter.   I have had technicians out twice now, and they say that's just the way the oven is.  GE will do nothing about this.  They have put a bad taste in my mouth and I will never purchase another GE product, especially one this expensive.  I spent almost $5,000.00 as on top of the $2,800.00 for the range, I had to get the back splash guard for which I had to pay an extra ($225.00), and the heavy duty fan ($760.00), plus the installation ($975.00).  Very costly for something I am always reluctant and afraid to use for fear of starting a wall fire.  I would prefer the larger burners be on the rear of the range as I cannot reach over the big pots in front  to get to the smaller one's cooking in the rear, ...but they do a good job for cooking on the stove top.

    Great Product March 09, 2012

Great heat control on the burners. Large single level top surface makes moving pots around easy. Middle griddle piece works great as well. Oven heats quickly and maintains good heat. Additional warmer is also a nice feature, even though I do not use it that much.

Love this stove September 21, 2011

We purchased on the advise of our builder while building our new home this spring. We wanted a professional grade oven that didn't cost a lot. For two non-professional chefs it does the job for us. We had our first holiday dinner and I was able to cook the ham in the larger oven and use the bottom drawer for the sides and the apps. I never thought about that when buying it but LOVE that I have that feature.  We're slowly figuring out what cooks best on each burner since they are all different. Again LOVE that feature. And it looks great. We have metal knobs and they are great.  Like another reviewer I wish the higher burning burners were in the back sometimes, but I use those most often, so I also like that they are in the front. Great stove!    I wouldn't buy the matching fridge though.

love the look. Love having two power burners! Also love the warming oven on the bottom! Only draw-back is the timer: wish it was either louder or it had volume options :(
