    Used daily without fail until Magnetron went out after 4.5 years May 04, 2010

    This was a great microwave for 4 1/2 years until the magnetron (main microwave making thingy) went out.  That is the only part that comes with a 5 year warranty, all else is only one year from date of purchase.  This microwave is used every single day.  I called GE for service and they came out next service day to repair.  GE has GREAT service!

    Overall this is a wonderful appliance, looks good, and is problem free until the one part went out.  Easy to use, with shortcuts for certain foods and beverages.

    I would recommend this oven, but not without looking at the newest and latest microwaves on the market today.  This model has to be at least 5 years old and I would imagine that some features have changed or improved in that time.

    We built a new home and purchased this microwave.  We have had it 1.5 years and the the touch controls do not work.  You would press a 1 and 7 would appear on the screen.  It didn't matter which button you pushed you would never get the correct number.  This made it impossible to use.  We did not purchase the extended warranty.  The touch pad would cost $487 to replace, which would only be warrantied for 90 days.  For that price it is better for us to buy a new microwave and have a year warranty on it.  We were advised by the service techician that GE parts are very costly.  To say the least we will not be purchasing any GE appliances again!

    This Microwave GE pvm2070 I purchased 2 1/2 years ago along with all my other Appliances from sears want out , I did not puchase the extended warranty on the microwave because I figured that what could go wrong with it and it should last a lot longer then that, i've had microwaves the last at least 8-10 years. But again i never owned a GE products, always been Kenmore. What a mistake. I recommend that everyone purchase an extended warranty on everything you purchase. regardless of the value of the item. Don't make my mistake.

    Bought this new from Sears with their extended warranty (what a joke that is). Microwave went out in 4 short months. After 2 service calls with Sears and they would not do anything, I called GE. GE came out and replaced all the electronics and worked great for 8 months and out again. Sears service is 1-1/2 weeks out on calls and cant wait to have them come out and not do anything again. FRUSTRATING! DONT BUY THE SEARS EXTENDED WARRANTY! Buy it from the manufacturer.
