Stove/gas top work well; the grates & burner caps are problems March 25, 2011

I like the way the oven cooks, has convection capabilities as well as regular baking functions. It has 3 oven racks whereas most ovens just have 2 racks. I have found the temperatures to be true and it cooks evenly. I like the five different size burners.

The stove has a bottom drawer which can be a warming drawer or a small oven. I have not yet used this feature, but like the possibilities of it.

This is the first time I have owned a gas range top. I grew up with gas, and my adult daughters have gas stove tops and I decided I wanted to try it because it gave instant heat and instant off. I have previously had a smooth top electric cooktop which I also liked.

The center oblong burner is very nice. I have used it with the silverstone griddle that came with the stove and I was very pleased with it. I have not yet used it with the large grate and a large pot.

When it arrived, I was surprised, but pleased, to see that it had the gray, enameled finish on the burner caps and stove grates. I liked that look better than the black, though I thought I was getting black. However, after using these, I definitely find the gray enamel to be a distinct disadvantage. The instruction manuel stated they should be cleaned with warm soapy water. Spatters (not spills or overflowing pots) burn onto the burner caps and grates. Warm soapy water will not begin to clean the caps and grates. I find it necessary to use something like a steel wool pad to clean them. It is proving to be much more work to keep this stove clean than any I have owned before. I cringe to think what it would be like to clean up a major spill. The area under the grates and burners, however, is quite easy to clean.

My instruction manual says that the stove has an automatic convection conversion feature--select conversion bake, set your normal temperature, and the stove will automatically convert to 25 degrees lower to accommodate for the convection feature. It does not do this. I have reread the manual several times to check the instructions and tried the oven several times trying to achieve this--it just doesn't happen. So when I use the convection bake feature, I either set it for the temperature I want and then shorten the time, or I set the temperature 25 degrees lower and cook for the recommended amount of time. The conversion feature just does not happen.

I like the stove, but I am going to investigate getting new grates and burner caps. With the current ones, I am afraid that keeping the stove clean will be a cleaning nightmare--too much work.

We feel cheated on this terrible range. April 17, 2010

Do not consider this range if you have children in your home.  We currently have the oven tied shut.  We installed the range and immediately became concerned about how easy it is to open the oven.  Sears suggested we call service, who did come out.  The service man informed me there was nothing he could do and that all the GE ranges he has seen have that same roller type hinge.  About that time, my 13 month old walked up and opened the oven.  This is a new fun game for him (hence the tying of the oven).  Now, in the showroom (we went back to check) all the GE Profile ranges have a different style hinge.  If we could simply be guaranteed that a new version of this range would have this different hinge that is much more difficult to open, we would exchange.  Instead, we will be purchasing a different brand.  What a hassle.

Poor quality control February 23, 2012

Bought dual energy stove and control panel failed ( exploded) first time I pressed convection bake. After 5 visits GE repaired it and with great pressure extended my warranty by 1 yr. Now 2 yrs old and control panel failure. GE did cover repair ( 2 weeks after warranty expired) Nice stove but worry about future.

    I waited for this G E Profile Range a long time! July 27, 2010

    Pros:
    Looks good,double oven/Elec.,Propane
    Cons:
zero quality control in factory,Center Burner/ bad design!

When I first got the stove I loved it! I loved having the two ovens, and being elec. and it being so much cleaner then gas. And the 5 burner top and then the center burner I noticed didn't sit right on the top, it wobbeled back and forth, the service man came out, and ordered a new part for it! and then when it came in, by then I had noticed the giddle pan had a black spot on it because it hadn't been burning right! so they put the new part on? And it still was doing the same thing? so Now they are ordering me a whole new stove! The new stove comes and it is the same thing? The center burner of all of them, does not sit on the top without wobbleling back and forth, which does not burn right? So if you order this stove, the center burner will not burn right? I have had 3 stove's and they all do the same thing and the bottom of my pan's are black!!!! The rest of the stove is great! so I'm starting from scratch, any one know of another stove I can order?
