GE  Spacemaker II™ 24'' 1.0 cu. ft. Microwave Oven

Easy to use. Seems to be built well. Turntable can be turned on and off which is a great feature for oversized dishes and for even heating. The delayed start feature is a great new feature so your dinner will be ready as you step in the door.

Had the previous generation that lasted over 10 years.

We purchased this GE microwave (from a competitor's online site) because of it's size, and the magnetron failed just over 1 year. Fortunately we had read reviews and had purchased the extended warranty. The warranty company which is contracted with this particular competitor required that we take the microwave 25 miles away to an appliance repair shop. With the price of gasoline, this is a frustration to say the least. If you DO purchase from Sears, ask where the item is to be taken for service and DO purchase the extended warranty because the microwave WILL fail just after 1 year.

We bought this microwave in January of 2011. It is now October, 2012 and the inside paint is blistering and peeling, making it unsafe to use. Very disappointed.

I purchased this oven to replace my original SpaceMaker II purchased in 1986 (it was still working, just time to update). The new Spacemaker has more wattage plus a turntable and cooks plenty fast. The digital controls are straight forward and intuitive, the express cook buttons are handy for quick re-heats. Overall this oven is much lighter built than the '86 model, lots of plastic (including the door catches. The door seems quite flimsy but so far no problems. It will be interesting where this oven is 26 years. I also had planned to use the under counter mounting kit from the 86 model (it didn't fit). The 2012 mounting kit is also light weight, obviously to match the light weight microwave. The installation process with the new kit is ridiculous. The brackets are screwed directly to the oven requiring it to be perfectly supported and aligned with your cabinet mounting holes. With the 86 kit the brackets are installed then the oven is hung on the brackets and then the brackets tightened up and secured...... a much better engineered bracket. Now that the unit is mounted and in operation I am very pleased with the oven's performance.

Perfect! I had been looking for a microwave that was rather small! This has all the features of a larger one! I love it!

Very happy with this product. It fits perfectly hanging under the cabinet and comes with predrilled holes filled with plugs in case you want to use it on a counter top. Directions for installing were very helpful!! It is small but comes with a turntable which locks if you have a dish which is too large to turn but fits into the oven in one direction.

It only worked for about four years and stopped working. The magnetron needs to be replaced, but it would cost almost as much money to replace it as to buy a new one, so I went to ******* and bought a cheap countertop model microwave to get me through.

We replaced a microwave model from 18 years ago. We love our new one, good value for a reasonable amount of money

Like the other reviewer, we had our GE Spacemaker II microwave for 25 years.  It was a geat microwave, although not as powerful as some, but it began to leak radiation slightly so I decided to replace it with an identical model.  Unfortunalately the new idential model is not identical.  I had the old model fastened to the wall (not the counter) with the brackets that were made for it.  One of the important reasons that I ordered this model was to be able to replace it on the wall. Not possible with the new model.  Also, although the new model has some additional features, it does not seem to be of as high quality construction and is less attractive.  ONE CAVIEAT IS THAT THE SEARS 2 YEAR WARRANTY WHICH IS ADVERTISED  TO  BE 2 YEARS RUNS CONCURRENTLY WITH THE MANUFACTURER'S WARRANTY AND SO IS IN FACT ONLY FOR ONE YEAR ALTHOUGH THE DESCRIPTION IMPLIES AN EXTENDED WARRANTY.
