    The Hoover Upright Vacuum (UH30300) is lightweight but powerful. May 13, 2011

    I'm a Hoover fan. My last Hoover vac lasted over 10 years and I loved it. I did a lot of research before I chose the Hoover Upright Vac UH30300. I have a dog that sheds quite a bit so I need a vac that can do a good job. I considered a bagless vac but the reviews were not that spectacular unless you don't mind paying alot for a vacuum. Which I refuse to do, so I decided to get a bagged vac.

    Needless to say, they aren't that easy to find anymore. I was thrilled when I found this one. It is light but it has excellent suction. It is a little loud and the upholstery brush is positioned behind the hose and is inconvenient to get out, but that doesn't bother me. I love the power hand tool and it is conveniently located. I think it is a great value and I love this vac.

    What a disappointment! October 07, 2011

    I had this vac for about 1 year (mild use once a week) and found it to be a major disappointment/ripoff. I really thought we had found a good one when I read the reviews on this website--boy was I wrong.

    Keep in mind that this vac like many others is made of plastic--low quality at that. The first thing we noticed when using the height adjuster was that on the highest setting, that vac continued to leave track marks from the plastic brush guard. The first thing that went was the height adjustment knob. It didn't matter how careful you were but once the turning mechanism went--it was difficult to switch from carpet to non-carpet floors. The next thing to go was the Brushroll on/off pedal (floor-to-carpet setting) which allows you to turn off the brush. Something might have come off not allowing it to stay engaged once you pressed it. Another problem we found was that the suction power using hose (with tools) was much greater than the main suction hose for area carpet cleaning. The suction power (for regular vacuuming) was weak. The clip for the crevice tools do not hold the tools in place--have to tape to keep your tools from falling off. The housing doesn't seal very well--allowing dust to escape and accumulate on the casing. I give it a one-star because the bags are easy to load. We were happy with the previous version but could no longer find it.

    I got this vaccum for my Grandma as an early Christmas gift. She has used it and it worked very well. She liked that it was lightwieght but durable. That it did a good of cleaning the carpets. Was easy to use.

    This Hoover upright vacuum bag model was purchased at Sears store in Texas City, Texas. Looked for a Kenmore replacement but they were too expensive. This model (UH30300) is great for our home, wood, tile, and carpeting. Only negative would be the hand wand could be longer. The hand held brush attachment has very good suction along with its rolling brushes. Cord length is great. The rear rubber wheels roll better and are much quieter than plastic. Have not had issues as other reviews indicate with broken belts, loudness, step-on switch to turn off roller for bare floors, or height selector switch. All functions work well. Hope this review helps in your decision. See if store will let you try out model as we did before purchasing.

    For the price this is a solid vacuum. I have already changed the belt twice, that would be my only complaint as I only have three bedrooms with carpet, the rest of the house is hardwood floors.

    Attachements are easy to use, I could see someone wanting a longer or second wand for higher ceilings, easy to shut off brush for hard floors. Suction is mediocre on hard floors (but I have a seperate stick vac for those) but on carpet it does well. Picks up a cleans well, easy to change bags with virtually no mess.
