Those benefits were not conditioned on the positive or negative content of the review.
One of the reasons I purchased the Nordic Track Commercial1500 in January was for the iFit Live feature and being able to work out with Jillian Michaels. The workouts are challenging and fun and the 30-45 minutes fly by. Using iFit Live helped me reach my goal of running my first half marathon last Sunday. I will be using it during my training for my next half in September as well. Every workout is different and you get a great mix of hill work and speed work. I have two little ones at home, so it's so convenient to hop on the treadmill. No matter what the weather is, I can get in a good, hard workout. It pushes me way harder than I would push myself. I have recently used the mapping program on the iFit Live website to map out my next half marathon in Maui and it mimics the elevation of the course. I can't wait to incorporate this into my training when it gets too hot to run even before the sun comes up. Without it, I probably wouldn't have signed up for a late summer race. Gotta go, I have some intervals to run!
I bought this with my Nordictrack elliptical. The iFit Live product is a new offering. I think it's a great idea but there are still a few bugs in the software. The iFit site allows you to create a profile to track exercise, weight and diet. The first implementation of the software has a few kinks. It wouldn't install using my Mac but my PC worked perfectly.
My elliptical downloads the workouts automatically and provides a new one in the series each day. Logging meals on the web site is still a little quirky.
[Update 1/14/10: Still struggling with quirky software. Sometimes my workouts do not post to my profile. Sometimes my wife's workouts post to my profile. The user interface on the website looks nice but just doesn't work well. The product is beta and is clearly not ready for
I started logging my food intake on the website but have stopped because it is too difficult to use. You can't enter food using numbers and measures. Instead, the UI consists of a slider which doesn't give users much control. For example: Orange juice is measured in cups. The slider goes from 1 to 2 to 3 cups with no increment in between. What if I drink a 12oz bottle of OJ? I've switched to another tool for calorie counting that provides more reporting on overall nutrition.
I wonder if the people developing this product actually use it. I have experienced some glaring problems that should never be seen by end-users. I wonder if they actually test things before deploying them to their production servers. Clearly, they are not paying attention to details.
On the positive side... The workouts from Jillian Michaels download just fine every time. I also created a custom route using the Google Maps functionality and downloaded it to my machine easily enough. If you log into the website while doing the workout, it tracks your location on the map in real time on your computer as you excercise. It controlled the resistance and incline according to elevation data from the map. (i.e. Going up hills was hard work while going down felt like coasting.) It worked well but, unfortunately, it didn't log my excercise on the web site when I finished. As others have pointed out, this has the potential to be really cool thing. Unfortunately, they started selling it before it was finished.
One advantage of the internet connectivity is the ability for your machine to download firmware updates to the console. I think one came down the other day because the incline on my elliptical motored all the way up then down again (calibrated) late one night when nobody was near the machine (scared my dog). Afterward, the menus in my console were different. It appears this product offering is a work in progress and they continue to make changes. As they continue to fix things, the fixes are sent right to my elliptical. So, I don't think I'm necessarily stuck with a bogus product.]
I just completed the entire 700 km of the Santiago de Campostela from Pamplona to Santiago Spain via iFit over a four week period. I entered the tracks in segments using data from Google Earth and it took me where I wanted to go. It definitely has its bugs, but overall, it worked as advertised. I look forward to may adventures on my exercise bike in the future.

this i fit live does not work correctly ........ i downloaded it nd got it to work with my computer after 6 hours of working with it . then, when i completed the download , i put in in my treadmill nd downloaded a map and all it displayed was a a tiny little line indicated in the middle of my monitor. It showed a line instead of showing a street or hills ect....... on the machine . I would not purchase nor recomend this porduct to my worst enemy ! I returned it to my local sports store for a full refund . Lesson learned never ever by something with out knowing if its worth the time , money , or effort

Don't waste you money. Do a little research on different workouts, how long to do intervals, etc and don't spend your money on this. It is OK after 2hrs of figuring out how to get it to connect to the internet, 2 hrs of firmware updates. Once that is complete then you have to figure out how to work ifit.com and find work outs. Then trying to find them on the machine is hard to do too! It has honestly given me a headache and wasted more of my time then anything lately.

I read all the negative reviews on this and was very scared to buy but I just bought a new treadmill and one of the main reasons was for the ifit technology so I felt I had to.I must be one of the lucky few because I didn't have any problems at all getting this set up. Been using for 3 days and so far everything works great. Love the Jillian Michaels programs!
BEWARE! IFIT stands for "IF IT" works. The module has issues connecting thus not always automatically sending your workouts to your profile online. Street view is a joke that does not exist. According to their claims, while you are working out, you can view a street view of the terrain. What you see is an ariel map of where you are running. The program has a lot of bugs that need to be fixed before this becomes a useful part of your exercise equipment. Buy equipment based on the features of the machine-not based on the IFIT gimmick.

Ifit tried to initiate a major software update in Dec 2012. Almost nothing functions now including workouts, history, and LiveView. LiveView was the main reason I bought a NordicTrack treadmill from Sears. Customer support is nonexistent.

This is a must to go along with a exercise machine. The only thing I do not like is it does not have a powerful wifi antenna. I needed to get the wireless router close for this to work correctly

This is an awesome treadmill. Super easy to use and a gym quality treadmill. I recommend having Sears delivery and assemble. Their delivery team was very nice and professional and they were in and out in under an hour.

I found other users either hate this unit or love it. I lean towards love but not quite all of the way. I experienced some of the same problems other users did but managed to work through them. Sure it's not quite as intuitive as it should be but if you take a little extra time to log into the website and check the step by step guide, it isn't so bad. I didn't have a problem joining my wireless network at all, got it upgraded and it helps to wait the upgrade out and leave it for a couple of hours like it describes. Got online and made some maps, downloaded popular ones, did some workouts while using the street view on my large screen in front of my equipment. I think my only real gripe is that I don't see a way to switch to the profile I made for my wife so she doesn't have her workouts add to my online stats. The website is nice and tracks all of the workouts automatically, you can even track all of your calories if you choose. I seen other users complain about having to pay for that service but it doesn't seem like a big deal to me since it has nice features, custom maps, user interaction and comes with 12 months free. I don't see a downside since it can help keep your workouts fresh. Again, it's nice technology with plenty of room to improve it, the beauty is that it's software driven and will likely be improved along the way.

Love the idea but hate the way it sets up. I have to downgrade my wireless network if I want it to work. That is not happening. Returning to sear later today. Disappointed by the tech support they provide. Do not recommend unless you have an older wireless network.
