I needed a more powerful impact gun in order to removal a harmonic balancer so I got this gun. It worked great at first but after a few weeks of using it to remove tire lug nuts it just stopped working. I would recommend Ingersoll-Rand, but just a higher quality one.

I returned the Craftsman 6 Piece tire maintenance kit I bought on sale for $60 and got this one. The Craftsman wrench in the kit supposedly had 400 ft lb of torque but couldn't loosen the lugs on my jeep. And I have a 5.5 HP 30 gal compressor. This Ingersoll zipped them off with minimal effort. I can tell from the first tire rotation I did that this is a solid tool that will do what I need it to and more because it thankfully is a TOOL and not a TOY. How it holds up over time has yet to be determined, but so far I would recommend it. A bit of advice - avoid the urge to buy cheap air tools...you'll probably just end up disappointed. I was.

This is my first impact wrench and decided to go with a tried and true model. The 231C is a stout tool that feels like it will last. It is a little heavy, but that's my only minor complaint.

I got tired of my old Puma 1/2" air impact wrench having off and on power so I bought this one through Sears. Wow, what a difference. This thing is very well built and extremely powerful. You get what you pay for and this thing is worth every penny.

This impact wrench works great! Especially when changing tires like for rotations and flat repair. Useful for any work with larger bolt sizes.

I've owned this model since 1996. I used it as a professional service technician at Goodyear Tires for about 3 1/2 years. It's seen CONSTANT abuse and is still running just as good as the day I bought it. I still use it on occasion when I need to rotate tires or if I need to do any kind of work that requires a high level of torque. With simple routine maintainance (i.e, cleaning, oiling, etc...) There really is no reason this model gun should fail you. I highly recommend this impact gun for any DIY'er or Pro. For the cost to power ratio, you'd be spending at least 3 times more money on a more expensive Pro name brand guns like Snap-On or Mac and just about get the same results. Cheers!

I've been using this gun for over 6 months now on a near daily basis. I'm a semi-professional mechanic (working towards becoming an apprentice) and when buying my first impact wrench, I looked at a lot of reviews at a lot of guns. But I had a price range in mind, and a need for a good, long-lasting gun. This one has proven itself to me many, many times. I've only needed more power less times than I can count on one hand. Luckily there's some big ol' Snap-On guns in the shop. Not to discount this gun in any way. I love it. It's powerful enough for me, and I've received plenty of positive statements about this gun from other people as well. It's loud, it's heavy, but you can always count on it. Don't second guess it, if you think it'll work for you, it will. If you're not sure, it probably still will.

I started my air tool collection with a basic set by Campbell Hausfeld. It's a great kit, but the impact is lacking in torque and can't break lugs loose. I found this IR on sale a few weeks back and after reading some good reviews, gave it a shot. I couldn't be happier, I did some suspension work on a rusty 83 FJ60 and this never skipped a beat. My compressor kicked on a few times (not surprised with the torque this puts down) but it never lost torque. Hands down the best air tool I own, really excited to see how it does with the on-board air system on my Cherokee.

My compressor is a craftsman 20gal 1.5hp 150psi 3.8 SCFM @ 90psi. I know this isn't the most powerful setup out there for some of the "beefier" tools like an impact wrench, but I just returned a craftsman impact wrench that would not "break" anything loose on my car. Couldn't get exhaust bolts off. I couldn't even get my lug nuts off and they were only torqued to 95ft/lbs!!! Being new to air tools and seeing the reviews from different owners, i decided to give my compressor a fighting chance, and i went out and bought this IR impact gun instead of looking for a more powerful compressor. I focussed on the SCFM thinking that would be my best bet for getting the most out of my compressor. I saw that this gun flows 4.2 SCFM which isn't much more than my compressor is rated for. Worked like a dream! I even over torqued one of my lugs to 140ft/lbs and it took it right off. The craftsman was horrible, but the IR took what my compressor had to offer and ran with it.
