I love this range!
I cannot express how much I love this range. It does everything except load itself! The burner grates are large enough to hold any size pot or pan I want to use. The grates are easy to remove and the top is a dream to clean. The burner controls are large and lets you adjust the flame to just the right degree. The dual flame burners are perfect for gentle warm to raging heat. The touch pad and display screen is very easy to use. The users guide is very easy to understand and complete. The accessories,(3rd rack, temperature probe, dehydrating guide) work just as decribed and are extremely convenient. The oven interior is very large and can accommodate just about anything you want to bake, roast or broil and I love that the oven fan comes on when the temp reaches 300. I have had absolutely no problem with the control panel, burners or fans. The whole unit cleans very easily and visitors always comment on what a beautiful range. I could not be more pleased. I guaranee that you will love it

Inherent engineering flaw - Do not buy it

This is a beautiful range but it has a serious engineering design flaw. I bought this range to replace my previous Jenn-Air. I have had it for a little over two years and have had to replace the control panel twice. Here is deal. steam from the oven somehow gets into control panel area and shorts out a ribbon cable, rendering the controls useless (oven, fan, etc.) When Sears comes to fix it, they have to replace the entire stainless steel section of the range; everything but the knobs. I could not believe that they could not just replace a board and ribbon cable, but I now have two beautiful stainless steel control assemblies in my basement. This is a $500 part plus labor. I am now forced to buy the extended warranty every year. Do the math, $500 part + labor every 1-2 years. The Sears technician confirmed that there were no product recalls. To put things in perspective, we use the oven 1/wk. I primarily use the stove top and my Weber grill. I would be very interested in learning if other owners have experienced the same problem.

absolutely stay away

I have a similar Jenn-air slide in to this one and by reading some reviews, it is apparent jenn-air has not fixed the problem. I have had the control panel board replaced 3 times since first owning the range in '08. The problem appears to be heat leakage from the oven baking the computer controls. Jenn-air customer service is atrocious and they do not care about their customer's experience with the product. I will never ever ever never buy another jenn-air product and suggest you do the same.

Stay Away from this one

This item has a known defect where the heat from the oven will eventually fry the control panel. We are on our fourth control panel in 6 years. And Jenn Aire won't even admit there is a problem. Very poor engineering in this product.

happy with Jenn-air stove from Sears

we are very happy. There was a problem with our electric connection and sears sent someone out the next day who diagnosed and told us what to do and now it's perfect. Very happy. It was damaged of course but we knew that. It was more damaged than we had anticipated, but my husband was able to remedy it so that it doesn't show (as it is a "slide-in"...and the delivery guy called prior to delivery to warn me that it might be worse than I had anticipated and I appreciated that very much.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

Defective products

Jenn-air used to make good stoves, but not anymore. I bought a Jenn-air JGS 9900, very similar to this model, and it was defective from the very first day: Oven had the wrong temperature, the bruners wouldn't have blue flame, the starter would click everytime one or more of the burners was one, and many more problems. After 12 repairs by Jenn-air and numerous phone calls, it was finally replaced with the exact same model, and needless to say, this one has its own problems. I would never buy Jenn-air anymore.

Nothing but problems

I have had my Jenn Air for about 4 years. During this time, the touch pad has died 3 times. The cost of the repair is about $500 each time. Fortunately, I have been paying about $250 per year for the extended warranty. I never expected to buy a $2500 range and then have to keep it under an extended warranty indefinitely. The latest repair was for some type valve/igniter replacement because one burner will not ignite. The first call to Sears resulted in some but not all of the parts to be correctly identified and sent to my house. The technician arrived and did not have the parts to fix the problem. He ordered $1000 worth of parts which included the touch pad. I will never buy another Jenn Air range again. We are a family of 4 with young kids who do not cook. We do very little baking but use the cooktop about once a day. I would be happy to give anyone more detail on my experience with this product.

The Jenn-Air range works great, no downdraft flame problems!

This range was to replace a 30+ year old Jenn-Air downdraft electric range which was on its last two good burners.  We read the reviews, and I was skeptical.  However, building a new overhead range hood or installing a standalone downdraft wasn't a practical option for our installation.  So, we went for this range.  This was for my father, who uses the oven and the cooktop quite a bit.  He wanted a gas range this time.  This is the JGS9900CDS model. To skip reading further, we really like it a lot, as long as it fits where you need it to go!

First - installation.  After getting gas lines run, the first problem is in the location of the downdraft.  It is in a different location when it vents down through the floor. This required some duct work redo - not bad, since the island duct work was over an unfinished storage room in the basement.  Another problem was the clearance in the back of the range.  It protrudes back farther than the old model (about 1 in or so), so we had to get a trim piece of black plexiglass to cover the back opening on the island (easier than getting a new island countertop - old butcher block).  Couldn't slide it back more since the island is just deep enough to accommodate the old Jenn-Air.

Second - The oven is pretty much all digital, with a smooth touch screen.  Far cry from the mechanical clock and dials on the old one.  Dad is still getting used to that.

But, he loves it!  It heats up fast, burners work well, with no problems with the flame being pulled down during ventilation - low, medium or high.  It just works!  He doesn't do precision low-heat cooking (melting chocolate, etc), just breakfast, lunch, dinner, and baking cookies and pies (over Christmas with our family).  And it doesn't smoke up the kitchen.  It vents better than the old one.  I asked him about using low heat stuff, and the combo burner put out a pretty small flame.  He thought it wouldn't be a problem, but he hasn't tried it.

One drawback - the finish of the smooth top around the burner (about 1/8 in or so) looks like it is lifting or staining somewhat.  With the grates on top and in normal light, you can't see it.  If you're picky, that would probably drive you up a wall.  Dad isn't so picky.

Overall, we (Dad and I) would recommend it highly to anyone replacing an old Jenn-Air with this particular model.  Can't say anything about the other ones here.  And this one was cheaper than the other model we were considering.  Just in case, we decided on getting the extended warranty, based on other reviews.  I hardly ever get them, but figured it would be worth the peace of mind for this unit.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

Overall
great features, easy to follow owners manual

The home we bought had a Jenn-Air in the middle of the kitchen with no updraft vent, so the least expensive option was to replace the Jenn-Air the previous owners took.  The range has a variety of user friendly options, you just need to read the owners manual to take frull advantage of what this range has to offer.  We love it.

I would recommend this product to a friend.
