The Noisiest!
I previously had a wonderful Kenmore cooktop. When I decided to remodel my kitchen, after 16 years, I wanted another Kenmore. They no longer made a 36" Kenmore cooktop so I settled for a Jenn-Air. What a mistake! The downdraft is EXTREMELY noisy. The burner grates rattle loudly each time the downdraft is used. It also takes away heat when you are cooking and any pot or pan left on the burners rattle also. I recently saw where Consumer Reports rated Jenn-Air very low. I see why and wish I had seen this before I bought one.

JennAir is the only 36" gas downdraft cooktop but is a good one.
The JennAir model JGD3536 W_ is the only 36" drop-in downdraft gas cooktop currently on the market. It is attractive and well-built but suffers from the problem of fan ventilation affecting the burner flames when it is running. The photo shows a burner flame skewed toward the running fan intake. This is inherent in all gas downdrafts which is one reason they are less popular than they once were. The five burners provide a nice range of sizes from a small simmering burner to a powerful 17,000 BTU/hr flame-thrower, but the largest burner is in back, behind the controls, which is not the best location for high-heat pan searing and large Wok-type pans for which it is intended. The fan has three speeds but they all seem to be within a relatively narrow range. The fan has a 5" exhaust outlet while the installation instructions note connection to a 6" vent, but it does not come with a connection adapter so some extra effort and thought is required if you are installing it yourself. I am not using the new Jenn-air internal vent/filter accessory that is compatible with this model. Basically, the JGD3536 W_ is a high grade, fairly expensive consumer cooktop that approaches commercial quality.

Installed a new Jenn Air Gas downdraft cook top and love it!!!
We just installed a new Jenn Air Gas downdraft cook top (36"), It was easy to install, with a little re-ducting work, although there was no way to attach the new cook top to the existing counter. We purchased some small "L" shaped metal brackets and screwed those into the stove and counter to secure it. We love the way it cooks, the high heat is great and the simmer is perfect for soups and stews.
I would recommend this product to a friend.
