    It Does Work! June 29, 2009

    This was interesting, because I bought the vacuum and then read the reviews...I was ready to return it but figured what the heck I had also purchased the Warranty if it went bad.  After using it I was very impressed with how well it cleaned the floors and how much dirt it actually picked up.  The nice thing about it was I did not to spend $300-$600, this was on sale for $85.  I did take the time to clean out the bagless dirt catcher and clean out the foam filter, no problem whatsoever. Well that's my story.

    A total piece of junk! November 19, 2009

    This is a horrible product. Sears should be embarrassed to sell it. When I first took it home I was very pleased. It was a good deal and worked great. The second time the belt broke. Sears fixed it, I took it home and then the motor blew. I took it in for repairs and got it back two weeks later. I didn't even make it through my living room when it quit working all together. Finally I took it back and made them exchange it. I'd give it zero stars but that wasn't an option.

    This is the worst vacuum that I have ever owned. Sears should be ashamed to sell piece of junck like this. I must have replaced more than 20 belts (which is $5)during the two years I had.

    heavy,beater bar broke

    When my Kenmore vacuum broke after a little more than 6 months of use - complete with a bit of smoke and a burning smell - I opened it up to see what was wrong.  I expected the belt to be broken - but no, instead it was the beater bar.  The *wooden* beater bar.  Apparently plastic ends are glued to what is essentially a wooden dowel with brushes on it.  It's all painted black, so it appears to be one piece, but it is not.  The end cap that keeps the beater bar in place sheared off from the rest of the brush.  I can't help but think that this is a really poor construction/material decision made by Sears.

    I'm torn on whether or not to recommend, though, since it works really well when it is running, and since the fix (new beater bar ordered from sears parts direct) appears to be an easy and relatively inexpensive fix.  Also, according to the parts ordering site, there is a manufacturer approved 'substitute' for the original part - I'm keeping fingers crossed for something sturdier.

    Who would have thought, though, that the beater bar would go before the belt?

    love the bagless feature,save money on bags

    no suction,looses suction too quick

    We purchased this vacuum about a year ago, we have always trusted Kenmore, and at first we were thrilled but within three to four months it started getting clogged. WE would clean up the vaccum regularly because we have two dogs, and it just kept on happening, my husband is a mechanic and thank God he was able to open up the vaccum and clean the hoses himself. Would probably buy Kenmore vaccuums just not this one.

    I do enjoy the bagless feauture.

    The vacuum is a good buy for dog hair, but it is very heavy lifting it up and down the stairs.  It picks up dog hair well and is easy to clean.  I bought my as a floor model and is very happy with the performance
