    An excellent A/C / Heater Unit July 20, 2009

    I purchased this unit in November 2008. I used the heat function all winter and it was very energy efficient and worked very well to keep a 14' by 20' sunroom with 10 large windows warm. This summer I have been equally pleased with the cooling functions on this unit. It has 2 settings for cooling and has a warmer or cooler setting knob. The one thing that I am not as impressed with is that the fan runs constantly even when the compressor cycles off. It is not a problem though. There is no remote control and it is not an energy star compliant unit. The unit is very quiet. It was very easy to install. I am using it in a through the wall installation. My Kenmore unit was manufactured by LG. The filter is well made and is a permanent, washable type. It is easy to clean. There is also a fan only setting for the heat and cooling functions. There is also a vent to allow outside air to enter the room. I am pleased with the quality of this A/C heater unit and would recommend it to others. It is a good, basic unit that does what I want it to do all year round.

    Doesn't work as described. May 23, 2010

    I bought the 12,000 BTU unit in October. We remodeled a garage apartment and built this unit into the wall. The heater works fine. But it never gets cool enough. The room is 500 square feet, with 6 to 8 inch batt insulation on five sides. If you leave it on high cool all day, the apartment might get down to 78. No cooler. Repairmen are coming from Sears Thursday.

    We bought the 18,000 BTU unit with heat and air.  We needed something to keep our downstairs at a moderate temperature throughout the year.  We are satisfied with our purchase.

    I had this unit for allmost a year now. This past summer, I turned on the a/c for the first time, and it works great. I only give this unit four stars, because the box it sits in can be very flemzy, and sag if you don't set it through the wall at a level position. But if you have a leveler by your side, just keep checking to see if it is level. If you don't have a leveler, it will be rough to install the box just right. I learned the hard way. But, all-in-all, still a good product.
