    Cooled quickly on a hot, humid day! August 03, 2010

    Installed new AC today.  VERY hot and humid -  this AC had the house cooled down really well in less than 3 hours, which is fast on a humid day like this (This AC, one ceiling fan, and one box fan down the hall cools my whole upper floor of around 900 sq. ft).  We have no shade trees close to the house, either.

    Replaced my 14 yr old Kenmore 10,000 BTU, with this one (and paid the same amount for both of them).  Since the old one worked so well, we decided to get another Kenmore.  

    Very pleased, and like the options it has on it as well.  Pull-out filter, is very nice, along with setting the temperature you want instead of guessing.  Looks nice, too.  Installation (by me) was much the same as with the old one, so wasn't a problem for me.  Used the Merchandise pick up as all stores were out.....good experience with that, too, got it within 3-4 days with no delivery charges.

    One mistake on the website - when you put in "slider casement air conditioners", this one doesn't show up.  Only when I typed in "12,000 BTU air cond." did it show.

    Filled with Black MOLD (Kenmore 12000 BTU AC) March 16, 2011

    I purchased this model roughly 4 years ago. I keep a very clean apartment and have a housecleaner come in once a week. Recently hired a repairman to clean the Kenmore 12000 BTU AC and when he opened it up it was literally FILLED with black mold. I have never seen anything so utterly disgusting. He said it would cost more to clean it than it would to replace it, that there was a problem with the drainage. Now I know the source of the respiratory and other health problems I have endured for at least a year. Window ACs need to be re-designed to keep out mold -- or to be more easily cleanable by the customer.

    I had ordered one that was heavily damaged in shipping to my home. I had contacted Sears and was very pleased with the quick response to return that unit and get me another. I had the 2nd/replacement unit shipped to my local sears store so I could inspect prior to picking up...it all was very easy. This unit fit a casement in my living room perfectly, and had a suprise in the box of a window stand. However, the only thing supplied to secure this unit to anything is one 1" tab to be screwed into the stand...I do not trust that is nearly enough for this large and very heavy unit. I found it easier to pull the stops and sash out for installation, made it about a 1/2 hour job on a 90 degree day. The supplied directions were completely useless. This unit cooled my entire living room and even cooled off other areas of the home as well and quicker than I expected. I would definitely recomend it to anyone looking to cool about 600 sq ft without a central air option. It is noisy but is tolerable. We'll see if I still like it when the electric bill comes.

    It's a little loud when running,Louder than last Kenmore, works better.,Purchased installation was a BIG hassle,sloppy installation; problem 1 yr later;

    Bought this 12,000 BTU Kenmore for my 76 year old father. Less than a year later it wont turn on. Spent $500 on this P.O.S and my last AC I bought lasted over 15 years without any problems whatsoever. All I have to say is "STAY AWAY" from KENMORE AND SEARS AS THEY ARE GOING OUT OF BUSINESS!!! Good Luck!!!

    I purchased this unit for my 76 yr old mother.  What a lifesaver!  Not only does it cool well, but it does so quietly.  The many features are an added bonus.  Everyone who enters her home is knocked out by this A/C and asks where they can buy one.  If I didn't already have central air I'd put in a couple of these units.

    It's a little loud when running

    I needed AC for the hot summer months don't have the budget for HVAC centralized home heating and cooling, it cools the room well but definitely on the loud side. Hope it'll last for few more summers only time will tell.
