Great electric grill that can really cook a steak June 11, 2007

I live in a condo that has grill restrictions. I can't have a gas grill, and I can only use a charcoal grill 15ft from my building. What a pain. I bought this grill on the hope that it would offer what it promised ... and it did! It can actually cook an expensive steak and provides grill marks. You don't get that charcoal flavor, but you wouldn't get that from a gas grill anyway. Just remember to add flavor to your meat in other ways such as marianating things and you'll never know the difference. The temperature knob allows you to choose anything from 200 to 575 degrees. I also like the fact that you can use the grill as an outdoor oven. Purchase a cast iron pan (depending on the heat you use, don't purchase one with plastic handles) and you can actually bake in it. Saves you the trouble of heating up your oven inside your home on hot summer days. Good luck with your purchase. You will love this grill!

did somebody ever shop test this one before marketing? January 03, 2010

    read all the reviews thought it an acceptable product bought it and tried a few times. Bottomline it never reaches any temperatues indicated ;

KENMORE ELECTRIC GRILL 141.15283 , COLOR RED

Read all the above reviews and decided to buy

    - my test result:

    TEST CONDITIONS

-outside temp: 47 F , no wind at all ( San Diego )

     - grill empty, lid closed ,

    -  Voltage : as specified, no additional cables.

    - setting MAX ,

    - Heating resistance in good condition, clean and intact

    TEST RESULTS

       - 20 minutes : temp reached MIN

       - 30 minutes : Temp reached MIN + 20% ( MEDIUM - MIN )

     - 60 minutes:  No change

     - extrapolation : MAX temp will never be reached.

    - Tested with chicken and corn , not cooked after an hour all dried up.

MANUFACTURER SHOULD HAVE TESTED THIS GRILL BEFOREHAND. VERY POOR DESIGN.

YES IT LOOKS BEAUTIFUL, BEST LOOKS IN THE MARKET. DO NOT BUY IT

    "Winterized " Electric Grill March 04, 2008
    via bazaarvoice
    By jackDIYers of Bentleyville, Ohio

Here I am again to report on this grill. The winter wasn't bad on this grill except for a couple things. 1. Even though the grill is off sometimes the "on" light comes on and the grill heats up some. When this happens I have to pull the plug out. 2. The grill never comes up to the top temperature which is 570 degrees F as the setting says. I would say the highest is about 350 degrees F. So fish cooks a lot slower than I thought. I like to cook fish hot and as fast as possible. This does not compete with a propane gas grill in that respect. With these two faults I still like it. It is great for steak and hambergers even in winter. When cooking on it everthing is moist and juicy rather than the dried out you get with propane. My propane grill got covered up for the winter. That was nice. I would still buy it, but have lowered my ratings somewhat.

Best Electric Grill Found September 07, 2007
    via bazaarvoice
    By JackDIYer of Bentleyville, OH

We have been watching this grill all summer and decided to buy one. I went to Sears Grand. They had two assembled and both had problems with the sides. The manager made one good one out of two. The good one still has some problems with the side shelves moving up and down, but it is minor. I just got my Dremmel out and ground down some of the small posts. The grilling is very good. The only problem is you have to leave it heat for 20 minutes before using. If you know when you are going to use it this is not a problem. It has good looks and a good design. The manufacturing needs a little tune up. Otherwise it is a great investment. We are hoping to use it on the deck in the winter, close to the house.

Overall, great grill. June 29, 2007

We really like this grill. It's easy to use and easy to clean. The only thing we had a problem with was fitting on the side shelves. We had to hammer them on because they were too small...because of that, we can't put the side shelves down for storage. Other than that, it's been great.
