ENERGY STAR® qualified appliance. This Kenmore dishwasher features a stainless steel wash tub with a polypropylene base, which offers greater durability than an all-plastic tub dishwasher. Our SmartWash™ HE wash system features the TurboClean™ option that allows you to load tough to clean dishes in the lower rack and delicate items in the upper rack getting everything clean all in one load. This dishwasher offers EcoDry which dries dishes without an exposed heating element or fan, saving energy and money. At only 52 dBA, it is 4x quieter than the industry average. It uses only 306 kWh/y, 55% better than the current minimum federal energy standard. While it is high in performance and efficiency, it would never leave safety to chance. It features AquaGuard™ that works even when the appliance is switched off.

Quiet and cleans well February 28, 2011

We had Sears deliver and install the 1391 dishwasher five weeks ago. My wife asked the installer if he could run it through a cycle before he left, and he replied that it was already running! It's so much quieter than our old one that she hadn't noticed.

The hidden controls give the unit a very clean look, and it should not clash with any other appliances. The finish and handle shape are a good match for a Kenmore Elite range we have had for a year or two.

The manual recommends using a rinse agent. We do, and the dishes come out clean and dry. The last reviewer didn't seem to like the beeping signal when the cycle completes, but I don't find the default volume to be too loud -- being able to tune out high frequencies is an advantage that comes with age, I guess. ;) Anyway, p. 16 of the Use and Care guide has instructions turn the signal off or adjust the volume.

I agree with reviewer kgibb that the silverware basket is a bit small, and the basket lid has slots too small for decent sized silverware. You can open the lid and snap it to keep it out of the way.

    Kenmore 24 in Built-in Dishwasher-1391 - the WORST dishwasher March 14, 2011

This is absolutely the WORST dishwasher I have ever owned. It has not cleaned dishes once since I bought it. I bought the extended warranty. The repairman came out 4 times, replaced parts, but was never able to fix it. Sears refused to replace it. The glasses never get clean on the top shelf...water does not reach them. Only some of the plates on the bottom shelf get clean. The water does not drain and there is now mold growing inside. I will never buy another Kenmore appliance from Sears again. The new Kenmore refrigerator that I bought from them is awful as well. The panel that holds shelves on the front inside door has expanded and no longer holds the bins. I have to duct tape the bins to the inside of the refrigerator to hold them in place. Sears sent some tiny, replacement shims that do not work to hold the bins in the door. It will cost me $156 to replace the inside of the door. Quality? NO! As I said before, I will never buy a Sears Kenmore appliance again as they do NOT repair or replace faulty equipment even if you buy the extended warranty. What a rip off.

Terrible Designed Dishwasher August 26, 2011

    Pros:
    Looks good on the outside
    Cons:
beeps when complete until door is opened,Can I rate less than 1 star

ABSOLUTELY HATE THIS DISHWASHER.Looks great on the outside.Inside design is terrible. It's like working a complicated puzzle to put your dishes in.I have to do twice as many loads, as it won't hold large pots & pans with other dishes in the bottom rack.I can only put a few of my large dinner plates in because of the way the two directions of the slats are arranged. The silverware holder is in the back right corner, so have to open door & pull rack completely out to put a spoon in.You have to arrange dishes from back to front or the rack will come fly up off the roller track when you pull it out as if it is top heavy. When it completes a cycle, continues to beep until you open the door. Then you have to turn the power button off or it will start a new cycle if you close the door back. Not any quieter than my old one (I'm sorry I replaced it).DON'T BUY!!!, Look at others.

The Kenmore Elite Dishwasher is quiet and powerful June 01, 2011

    Pros:
quiet, cleans very well, looks great

This unit does an outstanding job, uses less detergent than other brands, and is very quiet. About the only thing you here is the water swishing around inside. No mechanical noises at all.

Previously had an LG, but returned it and replaced it with this unit.

Very Satisfied and once again reinforcing the quality of the Kenmore product line.

    Highly Recommend.
