Kenmore  3.4 cu. ft. Top-Load Washing Machine

Service man had to be called, making grinding noise, ratchet noise, and still slow. Sears service man told me he works on these all the time, and this is what he did to my 1 year old machine. Replaced the actuator, belt, and put lock tight on the nut holding the pulley to the motor, and tightened the nut full tight. It had worked loose, not as bad as some he told me. The plastic cover had some belt residue on it from the belt slipping. The actuator was not fully engaging and had the ratchet sound I heard. The grinding noise was also from the actuator and belt assembly pulley gear slipping. Great for a less than one year old machine. Runs fine now, still takes too long to wash a load. In looking under the machine, its cheap, low quality and Sears should look into dropping this line. Its still JUNK. Only time will tell if I get my money's worth. Do yourself a favor and buy another machine, even a Kenmore, but a better model. Right now, I would give it a very low ONE STAR.

WOULD GIVE IT NO STARS IF IT WOULD LET ME. Purchased May 2012, to replace a Kenmore washer, but, just called the service department. Couldn't even go a year without a problem The machine makes a ratchet noise on all cycles. Previous review had same problems. Machine is very slow, unbalances all the time, over an hour to wash clothes. The locking lid is the worst invention ever. Soap remains on clothes after rinsing and putting fabric softener in the dispenser is just no good. It does not empty, and drips on clothes. I WOULD NEVER BUY THIS PRODUCT AGAIN, OR ANY IN THE LINE. Sears has dropped the ball on this washer. VERY POOR QUALITY CONTROL. I will never buy a Kenmore again. Have owned several, and this is the worst ever. The sales person should have known more about the product, he could not or did not know much about the machine. Look around before you buy, ******, **********, ********, ********, all have better products than this Kenmore peice of JUNK..

I will never buy another Kenmore washer, or any Sears Kenmore appliance again! I have had this washer for 2 years and it has given me nothing but problems. It becomes unbalanced even with the smallest of loads. You cannot use the downy ball with it at all either. It also takes forever to wash a load of clothes. Now, the spin cycle is so loud that I have shut the laundry room doors. It is a shame to spend so much money on junk, Sears will NOT stand behind their products. My advice is go to ********** and shop there. I had a Whirlpool for 10 years and NO issues.

I received this washer as a gift. I rate it as so-so. This washer has a tough time washing blankets--it sounds like the machine is going to blow up at any second during the spin cycle. I understand the load might become unbalanced while washing blankets but to stop the washer and readjust the load so that it is balanced isn't as simple as opening the top of the machine. It does seem to do a good job getting laundry clean, however. All and all, thoughtful gift but I would not repurchase this machine again.

Dont use Downey ball It ruins your clothes because it drips on them and turns them grey and blue

After owning this for 20 months, already repaired once, will not spin out! Worst washer I have EVER OWNED! Stupid me bought matching dryer a few months ago.

It's a nice washer, but it has its share of problems. First, every time I do a load of dark clothes, all the clothes come out with what looks like soap scum all over them. I can only assume that this is from the washer not draining properly. It sticks to the clothes like dirt, so you have to wash them all over again. It's a vicious cycle. The bin also slams into the side of the washer sometimes. Not because the clothes are uneven, but for some other mysterious reason. I have yet to figure it out. Also, while I'm fine with the lid lock feature, I don't understand why the cycle starts all over again once you close the lid again. Maybe I?m doing something wrong, but this seems like a pretty big design flaw from an "energy efficient" appliance. That being said, to me it is relatively quiet and the wash times are equal to other washers I've used. If this machine was $150 less, it would be perfect.

I purchased this washer alittle over a year ago and I also bought the extended warranty and I am so glad I did because I had to call to have it fixed. I have owned alot of Kenmore products over the years but this has been the biggest mistake I ever made when buying a washing machine. Washing takes way too long, the lid locks which I hate, water temp is not correct and now when it begins to wash it makes an awful grinding noise so now we need the repair man to come and try to fix it. The other thing is that is goes off balance so easily. Buying this washer was a huge mistake and I would NOT recommend it to anyone! And I honestly don't think I will purchase another Kenmore. I don't think anyone should have to call a repair man when you've only had a washer that costs over $400 and you've only had it 15 months! Shame on Sears.....

I am very disappointed with this Kenmore washing machine. The place where you put the fabric softener doesn't work properly and has messed up a lot of my clothes. A lot of the fabric softener is still left in the device and clogs up. I still can't figure out at what time you put the detergent in without it streaking up the laundry. I hate this machine!!!

I bought this washer in summer 2012. I liked the price & have been happy with washers from Kenmore before. This washer is soooooo slow. It drives me crazy. It takes at least 45 min. for one load. It stops and senses constantly!! It seems to wash clothes ok but so slow!!
