    Great Cooktop May 09, 2007

    This cooktop looks great and has given excellent performance. Installation was very easy, although I would recommend professional installation if you are not familiar with natural gas connections. The cooktop was not installed over an exisiting oven. It was ordered on-line and picked up at a local store. Delivery was only 3 days. I have read, in other reviews, that there is an issue with the larger burner being placed too close to the burner control knob causing it to melt. I have not had that problem, but the large burner is only 13,200 BTU and the igniter is between the knob and the flame, giving it some protection against the direct burn. That complaint may have been related to the larger burners. I would like to see greater control over the size of the flame. It seems at lower settings, there is no difference between settings #2-#4 and the same for setting between #5-#8. More like a low-med-high control, but overall another excellent product from Sears. All my Kitchen appliances are Kenmore.

    Can't be installed over cabinet drawers December 01, 2007

    Something you're not going to see in the specs is that according to the installation manual, this cooktop shouldn't be installed over drawers because of the depth of the cooktop burn box. You REALLY need this information so you don't have a nasty surprise. We just had the cooktop installed this morning over, you guessed it, cabinet drawers. We're going to have to cut the drawers down and hope they'll still work. I can't review anything else yet because I don't know what's going to happen when we cut the drawers down.

    The cooktop looks really nice, and was easily installed by my husband. 2 days after it was installed one of the igniters stopped working. The Sears service came out, and after very hard work replaced a part. OK. So, the igniter is working. Today, less than 2 months after the purchase one of the grated chipped. Just from the heat of cooking. I am going to try and return it. I had a cooktop for 15 years, and not one problem...

    This cooktop performs excellent. The user is easily able to choose a burner and adjust the gas to the exact cooking temperature. Because it is black on black; however, it is difficult to keep clean easily. It requires constant cleaning.
