Kenmore Freestanding Gas Range works great
I've had my Kenmore range a couple weeks now and am enjoying having an oven again!
My experience:
.Easy pickup at the local Sears store. Very nice guy helped us.
.The grates for the cooktop - nice weight, much heavier than my old stove.
.Love the big window to look into the oven
.Sealed burners are awesome
.Very low on "assembly required" parts - just trading the nat gas for the propane nozzels
.The black is very stylish I think. A nice change from my old bisque colored one.
Only negatives - coverting to propane was not easy...would have been willing to pay someone (even though I picked it up) to have done this - or be able to order a stove ready for propane. The broiler drawer does not remove as the instructions say - still not sure how to get it out, but did manage to get the oven regulator adjusted which is the back of the stove thru the broiler drawer. Patience & a steady hand are needed to swap out the tiny tips in the burners - and be sure to look at the number on the propane tips - Front right burner is the high output burner and need the higher number nozzel. 90 or 93 were 3 of them, and I think 102? was the oddball.
If you don't have to convert to the propane - installation should be very easy - just make sure you know how to connect the gas line.
The burners need to be tweeked, but haven't messed with that yet.
Overall - love my new stove and enjoying it!

Decent but Design Flaw
Works great, gets your pasta water hot quick.
Oven heats well.
Sometimes the Extra Hot Burner won't light, I have to turn on the back one and then turn on the front for it to ignite.
BUT there is one BIG flaw. The control panel is held on by plastic screws, if you look closely in the picture you will see that the oven vents directly below this panel.
It doesn't take a rocket scientist to see that in time the plastic screws will weaken.
In my case all four broke, it took 1 year and one month. Unfortunately, that is one month outside the warranty.
All I did was turn it on and off. Normal oven use. This little mama didn't hit it with a bat.
So I called Sears, got rerouted, got dropped, got told it was recalled. Called back Recall Dept in AM, then was told no not recalled. But can come out for $75 trip charge and get a $65 credit. However when the guy got there he told me it was $129.
Called Customer Service again and got that worked out.
But get this, Sears won't fix it without charging me $284 for a new part and labor. WOW! I only paid about $400 for this anyways.
I told Sears, it was a design flaw. "Well we don't manufacture it, take it up with Manufacturer Frigidaire.
Called Frigidaire they said they would replace the part, but I would have to pay for the labor.
Please don't buy a cheap range.
PS I hollared at my n'bor this morning across the yard, don't buy a range from Sears. He said to me, 'I won't' he said. Apparently he had issues with his within a year or two also.
PPS When I got my range delivered initially it had a dent in it. I called Sears and basically they dropped the ball and never called me back when the part arrived. And then when they were going to come out they said they'd have to reorder the part again, only the mechanic could do it from my house. Finally the guy did come out replace but not before breaking my oven light so that I couldn't turn it on when food was cooking (it would still work when opening door). However at THAT point, I said forget it, it was too much trouble to get them to come back out.

REALLY NICE for the PRICE
Actually I bought the bisque color to match fridge but this appliance has a nice weight to it and did not need the self cleaning option. It is easy to keep clean and can bake a nice cake too. The only problem I had was a bit of difficulty in changing out the oven orifice for propane the rest is a easy installation. Thank You Sears!

Great basic oven for your everyday home needs...
I never understood a lot of the negative reviews about this product. I believe it has to be because people aren't used to newer appliances. This oven uses sealed burners as opposed to open burners. The flames come out from the side instead of aiming straight up. So the flames are lower than a typical open burner oven. But the benefit of sealed burners are more even heat distribution. The controls are very easy to use and the oven preheats quickly. And for the complaints about the manufacturer only offering $100 to fix it after warranty, that's $100 more than they should offer you. It's out of warranty. Should it die after a year? No, but Sears offers the option of an extended warranty if you want it. Otherwise, you can go with the manufacturers warranty and then pay for service once it's out of warranty. But under normal use, there is no reason this will fail on you after one year.
