Kenmore  30'' Freestanding Gas Range

Love the power burner, and we can"t get enough of the center grill!

Caught it in the paper ad and went to the store. Looked and it and really liked it. The middle burner is excellent.

Wanted a 5-burner gas range with continuous grates and this Kenmore fit the bill. The power burner and simmer burners are great and the center burner is good for a big pot or a griddle.

We bought this stove 3 years ago. We replaced it two days ago. The knob broke and we were told they didn't have replacements for that model. The oven preheat will signal, yet the food doesn't cook. The fifth burner won't heat a griddle pan. We couldn't wait to get rid of this product. Shop around for a different stove. For the money we spent on this one, we just bought a GE with a much larger oven, self cleaning oven and racks and knobs that work!

After using my old stove for 12 years & wasn;t new when I got it I love my Kenmore range. I've probably cook on every burner including 5th burner. My husband is delighted w/pies, cakes & cookies I have made for him. I just love cooking.

The Kenmore 72603 has great features. The simmer burner is perfect for keeping food warm without constant attention and adjustment. The power burner is just the opposite- fast for heating large pots of food. For frequent pasta cooks, it's ideal- you can simmer sauce while cooking meat, then speed boil the pasta. The large storage drawer is a real convenience. It takes a while to get used to the black cooking surface after decades of living with white. Every grain of salt or spice, every splatter of water or oil is starkly visible. But clean up is easy. Installation and set-up were a breeze.

I had my O'keef and Merit quit on me and I needed a new range. I liked the 5 burner design and needed something that would fit into the small kitchen of my condo. This oven matches baking times of my 30yr old work horse down to the second. The power burner is great. We like the center burner the best as we bought a griddle to go with our new range. The griddle has been used daily I can't believe we went so many years w/o one. I highly recommend this range for anyone that has a smaller kitchen. Clean up is easy and the large window in the door takes the guess work out of baking.

I bought this appliance on the day after Thanksgiving in 2010. The stove is perfect for the way we cook. The large center burner makes is easy to cook larger meals in oval cookers. The downside - and it's a big one - is that we're now replacing the electronic timer panel for the SECOND time! It's held on by four plastic clamps, which are not made to take the pressure of being used regularly. I was already disappointed in the timer as it is hard to hear from any room other than the kitchen. I will invest in a similar model with a much better timer set up next time.

I got this on sale for $594, plus I had a coupon for $50 off an appliance, so the price was great. I had been using an electric range for serveral years and finally talked my Boyfriend into getting a gas stove (he was the one who had to run the gas line for it....lol). This range, so far, has been almost perfect, the only draw back so far is the timer. It is just one extended "beep", maybe 20 to 30 seconds, at most, and it is not very loud. I cannot hear it at all unless I am in the kitchen or the house is completely quiet, which isn't likely to happen. Now, for the pro's: There are so many, I don't know where to start. The cook top has been easy to clean. The grates make it easy to move pots and pans around and they are great for those over-sized pots I use often. The flames are even and food is cooked evenly from the center of the pan to the edges. The oven window and interior light make checking on food without opening the door simple. The high power burner is wonderful! It brings water to a boil quickly without burning the bottom of my tea kettle. Even though the oven is manual clean, it has wiped up good as new with a damp rag so far, though I have not had any spills or anything yet, I expect from how it looks, that it would not be that difficult to clean up in the future after a spill. Another pro worth mentioning is at the back of the range. It is designed so that the gas hookup allows the unit to slide back all the way to the wall. I am sure this would be the case for most hookups. Oh, one more con: If I'm using most or all of the burners, there is no place for a spoon rest...LOL! Small sacrifice for such a great bargain!

The range performs well.  The continuous grates are a nice feature that allow you to move pans around or split the burners.  The oven controls are simple, and the oven works as it should.  The only negatives that I can report are that there is no visual indication that the oven has not reached the appropriate temperature.  There is an audible beep that sounds when this occurs, but there is no way to know if you missed the beep if you leave the area.
