Kenmore Air Conditioner works great!
This air conditioner works great. It's easy to operate and cools our bedroom down quickly. It's also quiet enough that I can sleep through it (I'm a light sleeper). I keep it on energy saver during the day--which keeps it from getting stifling upstairs, but not "cool". I'm not sure if that's the way it's supposed to work or not, but it's great for my purposes. The beeping from adjusting the controls is incredibly loud--but, I don't see any reason to rate it less for that. I also have the lowest model Kenmore--which was $99 for my son's room--and it works just as well. It doesn't have the energy saver option--but I just turn it to the lowest cool setting when we're not upstairs. I actually would have just bought two of the lowest model, but was lucky enough to find one of these marked down at Sears (open box item).

This unit ran nicely for 6 months. Install was easy, operation clear and cooled the room quite well. Easy to lift, and good instructions.
But, after about 6 months it stopped cooling as effectively. Instead of running once every 10 minutes or so, it started running constantly just to keep the room barely at the set temperature. Air coming out was much warmer than it had been (still cool, but not cold). I suspect a coolant leak, because eventually the coils frosted.
Sears kindly agreed to replace the unit rather than making me wait for a repair. I hope this one lasts longer than the first one did.

Prepare for sleepless nights
This is a VERY noisy, poorly designed air conditioner. A huge step backwards to from earlier models. Spend a little more money and get a quality product. I will just remove it and junk it since I foolishly threw away the carton. The cost of installation is also lost. Some judicious use of duct tape can reduce the noise from the rattling plastic grill but nothing can be done to suppress the loud compressor noise. Oh, and this thing does a poor job of cooling a small ( 11"x 14') bedroom.

Saves Energy and VERY quiet air conditioner
Bought this to help cool a room I already had Air Conditioner in it works so good I don't need the other one and is very quiet it also has automatic energy saver which turns on and off when it reaches temp. set on digital display. Was easy to set up in window to.
