I agree 100% with JoeJoeBeans from Allentown. I thought for sure that the people who complained about the noise this unit makes were exaggerating and that I (a particularly sound sleeper) would have no problem with this as my bedroom unit. One day in, and I simply couldn't sleep. It sounds like rattling metal -- extremely annoying and difficult to block out. It's not just white noise. Were it not for others with a similar experience, I would think my unit was simply defective. This has to go back...and I really wanted to like this unit.

I've only had this A/C for a couple of days and it works great --- sure is better than the GE it replaced. I would have given this A/C 5 stars except the control panel on the front of the A/C is very hard to read, especially with old eyes. One important thing that most A/C mfrs no longer do is to list on the packaging how many amps the unit draws --- in the operators manual it says in the cooling mode it draws 4.5 amps. Very easy to install without reading the directions.

I kind of rolled my eyes at other reviewers saying this air conditioner was loud. Of course it's loud, it's a window air conditioner! Then I actually purchased this beast for my tiny bedroom. Turns out it's actually freaking LOUD. It sounds like an icemaker running at times, rattles the window and I can feel it vibrating in my head laying on my pillow. I've owned quite a few air conditioners in my day and this is definitely the loudest. That being said, it does effectively cool the bedroom. The compressor clicks on and off a bit too frequently for my taste (usually every 5 mins), but it gets the job done. The only way I can tolerate this is with earplugs. If you don't sleep with earplugs and plan on using this in a bedroom - good luck.

I'm not crazy about remote control. Seems like older air conditioners kept it cooler.

Bought this air conditioner in preparation for 95 degree weather and I would rather sweat and be hot than have another night with this in the window. I was woken up about 10 times by scratching load noises and horrible clunky sounds from the unit. Not worth the money at all. Buy a better model from a different company, trust me!

It operates very quietly except that during humid days condensed water buildup on the bottom towards the back gets splashed around by the fan. The water hits the aluminum cooling fins and it sounds like fingernails scraping the fins. There was only one drainage hole on the bottom (beneath the compressor), so I drilled many more. Problem solved. Before drilling, I had tried mounting the unit at several angles slightly off horizontal, but the condensate buildup still occurred.

I bought 3 of these units for our bedrooms and they are wonderful!! Quietest AC I've ever owned, it cools down the room fast, great energy saver, and best of all, they last. Ours are 5 years old and working just like the day we bought them.

This is a VERY noisy, poorly designed air conditioner. A huge step backwards to from earlier models. Spend a little more money and get a quality product. I will just remove it and junk it since I foolishly threw away the carton. The cost of installation is also lost. Some judicious use of duct tape can reduce the noise from the rattling plastic grill but nothing can be done to suppress the loud compressor noise. Oh, and this thing does a poor job of cooling a small ( 11"x 14') bedroom.

This air conditioner took forever to cool a small bedroom. And It was noisy too. I returned it to the store.

I would recommend this for anyone who want's a very quite a/c in your bedroom.
