    Great things come in small packages April 01, 2011

    Pros:

    • Fits easily in the garage
    • Freezes super cold!
    • Top shelf perfect for lunch box ice packs
    • Lot's of room for frozen dinners, ice cream and ice
    • BEST FREEZER FOR THE PRICE

    Cons:

    • My freezer is in the garage so I don't hear it running but even when in the garage I never hear it kick on.
    • Doesn't come in black.

    Got it on sale for $221 and it's super cheap on electricity. I would highly recommend this freezer.

    The Kenmore 5.1 cu ft Upright Freezer is the perfect size February 26, 2012

    We purchased this freezer about 3 weeks ago and had to have it replaced already.  It stopped working within 2 weeks.  We were able to return it to the store and purchase another one as a replacement.  So far, the replacement has been working fine. 

    We have ours out in the garage.  It's the perfect size for a garage.  We did insulate the back as we do not have heat in the garage and were afraid that low winter temps may interfere with the thermostat.

    There is plenty of room inside.  There is one shelf at the top that is small and can only hold flat items. There is only about 2 inches between the shelf and the top of the freezer.   The other shelves can hold quite a bit.

    Overall, we are happy with this product, despite the first one not working after 2 weeks.  We believe there was something wrong with it from the beginning because the replacement is running a lot different than the first one.

    I believe this upright freezer was the best value for the money spent. My husband and I simply needed more freezer space, but we didn't want to bend over and dig through a freezer to find what we were looking for. The shelving in this upright freezer is very adequate and makes it extremely easy to find what we need.

    We came home from a three week cruise to a horrible smell coming from the basement. Our 30 year old 4+ cubit foot upright freezer had died. The food was spoiled and fluids leaked all over the floor. Gathering it in a heavy duty black plastic bag and trash day was the next day. A recycler took the old broken freezer away. We thought we could just get along without replacing it. After all we are now just two people and near stores. Well that lasted a couple weeks. We missed having it so much we went out and purchased another Sears 5.1 cu ft upright freezer. This one is slightly taller and narrower and cost LESS than our broken one! We are very happy to have a freezer again If this one lasts 30 years, it will outlive us and be a family heirloom. Thanks Sears! Charles and Halen in Michigan

    I had a chest freezer and it was very hard for me to keep up with what i had in it. also i have gotten older and it was too hard for me to continue with it. now i am very happy with this upright freezer . it saves me money on my electric bill, i can find anything that l need. don't damage my frozen food,and it is easy for me to move and clean. this freezer is a nice size. it don't take up too much space.
