    This is a great humidifier January 28, 2009

    I recently tried another brand humidifier and it did not work well at all, so I took it back and bought this one. This one works great. It is very quite on the F2 setting. My house has very low humidity, so I have to refill once a day, but the tank is easy to fill in the kitchen sink. It keeps the humidity at a steady temp and you don't even hear it cycle on and off. I would definitely recommend this product.

    Piece of junk January 09, 2009

    The first humidifier I purchased didn't last long. I ran it for eight days. I went on vacation and had the neighbor turn it off when the filter dried out. When I returned from vacation, I refilled it and it worked for two days, and on the third, the fan just wouldn't work. The number on the display was lit, but the fan never turned on and it was never at the correct level. Well, this second one I've had for less than a week. This fan is louder than the first one that quit was, and while it worked for a few days like the first one, it doesn't anymore. The fan runs, but it doesn't ever get up beyond 29 or 30 percent. This is the most expensive and annoying piece of junk. I won't be buying Kenmore again...

    The product description for this humidifier is a little misleading. It is called a 6 gallon humidifier, which in my mind meant it would hold 6 gallons of water - it does not. The description of the bottle says "Easy Fill bottle with total capacity of 2.5 gal" - the bottle hold actually only holds a little over a gallon, and the total capacity of the humidifier is 2.5. So, if you are planning to use this humidifier 24-hours a day, be prepared to fill it several times a day. We bought this humidifier after owning several smaller humidifiers and were weary of the constant filling. So initially, we were very disappointed when it arrived (we ordered it online) and we saw it was not going to meet our expectations. However, we only use the humidifier at night in our room, so we got over the fact that we still have to fill it every day. It does do a bang up job of humidifying the air. We use it with the fan on high because we also use it for white noise. We live in a very dry climate and have baseboard heat. This humidifier keept it around 35 running all night. The bottle is very easy to fill. I actually found I like it more because of it's small capacity. You have to fill it twice to fill the machine, but it keeps the bottle light so it's easier to bend over a tub and fill than bigger reservoirs I have used. Overall, we are satisfied after getting over our initial disappointment, but I am not sure we would have purchased it if the description had been more accurate.

    I bought this unit 3 months ago when I moved to a dry climate. It has worked very well at keeping my 700 sq ft. apartment comfortable. I found it best to set humidity to 35 and fan to F2 so it isn't too nosy. It is very important to pick up some Bacteriostat or it will start stinking in a few days. I get the 32 oz. Holmes Humiifier Bacteriostat from Walmart for $2. I add 2 capfuls for each 3 gal. tank and the bottle lasts for a couple months. I add 3 gal. of water to the humidifier usually once a day. The unit can hold two tanks worth of water, but the tank is a little wet and slippery after filling it once so I only do one at a time. I wish the tank was flat on the top instead of curved to make refilling easier (you turn it upside down to fill it), but it is not a big problem. It is just a little hard to hang on to and balance when I am bending over to fill it in my bathtub. If you have a tall faucet this would be less of an issue.
