    good warranty October 22, 2009

    worked well, developed a leak after 8 years and 8 months, (bottom rusting out--more of a GUSH!)  luckily the kenmore warranty (NOT EXTENDED WARRANTY!!) guarantees against leaks for 9 years, so we are getting a free new replacement model today. dealt with the 800# BS--who told us no warranty, but save everything--they do cover against leaks, and are replacing with a brand new one! I don't usually recommend Sears products, and hate the fact that they don't cover anything over a year without the extended warranty, so was very pleasantly surprised to find this out when I checked my booklet, thinking I would get a prorated refund of a few dollars at this point.

    Purchased new in May 2004. Elements trip the breaker periodically. It now leaks in two places....tank has corroded (rusty water) Poor quality. At least it's under warranty. Looks like Sears will be replacing the new one in 4 years too unless they improved the design and/or materials.

    I purchased one of these 5 years ago and have had nothing but problems have to replace heater elements about every 6 to 9 months, and they never have the 5500 watt heater in stock . Now the tank is leaking Stay clear of this thing if you can
