    Excellent buy/excellent machine March 18, 2009

    I purchased this vacuum last week after going into Sears to buy the consumer magazine top pick bagless. I didn't like the color, complexity, and that unit was heavy, NO SALE. I started looking around and just happened to see that this vacum was on sale for $67.99. I saw it had everything I needed including being bagless . I playfully asked the salesperson about this model expecting him to laugh at me, but he plugged it in and I vacuumed the carpet in Sears for a while and was greatly impressed with it's weight, color and overall quality. I had a Singer that I have used for the last 15 years that gave me EXCELLENT service but recently I could not locate bags to fit it properly. This Kenmmore vacuum is 100% better than the Singer, I took it home and vacuumed 1 room and had to emtpy the container as I did with every other carpeted room, so my Singer must have been lacking even though I didn't know it. I do not know about the reliability of this product as I've only had it 1 week so the verdict is still out on that but otherwise I'm very proud of this unit and I saved $200.00 over the magazine recommended unit. Will update at intervals to allow a better review.

    Noisy but Sucks February 26, 2009

    Pros: filter empties easily; strong suction; side suction works well; handle release works really well. Cons: noisy; cord exits wrong end (should exit near top), power switch dodgy; half of 6 ft (as advertised) hose is trapped and cannot be used; height adjustment is manual (yeah, manual!); good luck with parts - vacuum label states model is 216.37000800 but Sears Parts database only knows about 216.37000700. Good News: tinkerers will be able to fix the most annoying problems (cord and hose) with some simple mods to the vacuum.

    Pros:
    Powerful and, so far, reliable,inexpensive
    Cons:
    Cheap construction..no frills.

    We've had this one for several months now. It is obviously cheaply made. Switches and such don't snap into position solidly like on better-made vacuums and I'm even more concerned that they'll snap OFF. Plus, it's fairly heavy. It is also pretty much sans-frills.

    What it does, however, is vacuum better and more reliably than any vacuum we've had before, ones that cost 2 or 3 or even 4 times as much. It's powerful and so far hasn't clogged once, unlike the $300 Hoover we had previously. We actually got this one on sale, and I shouldn't have purchased this one...I should have purchased TWO!

    I bought this for my newly built house to use on my 3 bedrooms only.  I have hardwood everywhere else.  I probably only have to use it every 3 weeks at the most.   It would not pick up anything and when I went to pick it up the bottom just completely fell apart.  This is cheap but was a trusted kenmore brand and I thought would be appropriate for my use.  Complete disappointment from sears and a piece of junk!!!!
