Fancy design for a great product March 09, 2010

It's a great microwave oven with lots of capacity as long as you bother you go through the manual once. Even if you don't though, the usual modes are easy to figure out and in many cases it can replace the regular oven. My only problem has been the inside light that went out a year after the purchase and I have been unable to replace it. Other than that it's a highly recommended purchase.

    Don't be fooled... February 05, 2008

Don't be fooled by all the fancy cooking modes and inteligent sensor that can tell when your food is cooked. Just a few examples: *Reheating Mode: very slow, and in the end, some of your food is very hot, other parts of the food are still cool inside *Speed Cook Mode: Despite using the supplied metal plate, the bottom and top burner and quartz light did not get the fronzen chicken tenders crispy, came out slight soggy and took the same amount of time as cooking in a toaster oven -- no advantage at all *Convection Oven Mode: most convection ovens will reduce your cooking time by 30 - 40%, this one will only benefit your cooking time by 20% -- the same quiche we cook in our convetional oven for 25 minutes, took 20 minutes with this unit. *Microwave Mode: Here is the UNBELIEVIBLE part -- this is a slow microwave by today's standards -- this unit replaced an 8 year old Kennmore Microwave that cooked food almost twice as fast as this unit *One Touch Mode: the popcorn one touch button will leave a third of your popcorn un-popped, we found that the sensor gets fooled by all the steam comming out of the bag while popping - we have to add one full minute to the time that unit thinks is the correct time *Preheating Mode: in the above example I gave with the quiche, the oven asked me if I wanted it to pre-heat first, I said yes and it started it's pre-heating process which took a full 15 MINUTES!!! That's almost as long as it takes to cook - my full size convential oven pre-heats quicker! Unbelievable! We only use this oven as a normal microwave -- we are better at guestimating the time of cooking things by entering the time manually instead of letting this thing figure it out. My mom has one of these and the main cpu unit burned out within 18 months and had to be replace at $500 I'm actually looking forward to my unit burning out so I can replace this hunk of junk with just a plan, high powered microwave -- this was the biggest $700 I ever wasted...

Just purchased a new kenmore elite microwave/hood combination, model 721.86013. to replace a similiar kenmore elite product that sadly died after 11 years. I hope this new one will last as long. Although made for over the stove, I mounted this one under my wall cabinets, too bad it didn't match the existing mounting bracket.Though smaller than my last elite, the Micorwave is nice and big on the inside, 9 1/2 x 21 inches. so i can use most of my existing microwave cookware. I use my microwave to both bake and cook. I have used this one for both baking and cooking, and it works great. The stainless interior is very easy to clean. The controls are easy to use, has automated prompts. The convection oven works well also, although haven't baked a cake in it yet. My apple pie turned out pretty good. The only thing that I do not like about this product, is the wire rack for the convection oven. It is a little flimsy. I would definitely purchase this micrwave again.

Show me the light!? Great product- but why no interior light? March 12, 2010

Just had the Microwave Hood Combo installed today- we already love this appliance. The only issue is the lack of light in the interior- I took for granted that this product would have a standard interior light- and it is something that I know I am going to miss from my previous microwave.
