    Is the dishwasher running? February 24, 2011

    I purchased this stainless steel Kenmore Elite Dishwasher 2/19/11 with a promised delivery and installation on 2/22/11. The purchase decision was because of the 42dBA as I was determined to get a dishwasher that was quiet due to the open floor plan of our home and the sale price $1288.69 with no sales tax and free delivery if Sears installed for a fee.

    Initially I had no idea about decibles but as I researched it on the internet found that it was about like a 12 gauge shotgun heard about a mile away at a shooting range. TSo I asked a gun expert who said that would be inaudible or at the most barely audible. When it was delivered, as promised, on 2/22/11 and installed, the installer said it is filling now to which I said "no way" but yes way, it was indeed filling which I could hear only if everything else was quiet and I put my ear directly next to the dishwasher. The running light was shinning on the floor. When it began washing it was only slightly more noise but again you have to really pay attention, listen very carefully and be next to the dishwasher to it to know it is washing or pumping out water.

    I have only used it once but the dishes came out clean on a normal wash. I did have to blot with a drying towel (not a problem for me). Negative reviews that I have read on Bosch dishwashers have pretty much all been about the drying of the dishes and no heating element for drying otherwise all reviews were 4-5 out of 5. I also didn't have the patience to wait when it stopped the cycle to check how well it did.

    Great Look Poor function February 23, 2011

    I was taken in by the Kenmore name not realizing this was made by Bosch. Buyer beware. If you need a washer that holds large pans and a lot of dishes this is not for you. IT is smaller in size on the inside and the dish dividers are not user friendly. THe dishes were not getting clean. THis uses hot water rather than force to clean so it does not get all the dishes clean unless you run it for 2 1/2 hours. Not much on the energy savings to run it that long. THis one is going back and this time I will make sure that whirlpool has made the Kenmore elite. I do like it's quiet wash.

    The set up for loading the baskets is not good.  Too many prongs for dishes.  Some prongs are too far apart for thinner casserole dishes, they tip over if there is too much space.  I love the way you can adjust the height on the top basket.  Silver ware basket is too big, a longer thinner one would be better.
