    Very nice, Stylish and Efficient cooktop... July 05, 2011

    I could not be happier with this cooktop. It works great, looks great, and boils water very quickly for pastas, rice, etc...

    The last person who left a review apparently cannot read. The burner is not a 'turbo burner' for fois gras; it's specifically called, listed and shown as a 'turbo boil' burner. You're supposed to 'boil' things on it.

    Regardless, it's not too difficult to clean either. Just wipe it down often so splatter doesn't get caked on after cooking and it should be just fine. We've had ours for about four months now and thoroughly enjoy it.

    Poorly engineered Turbo Burner makes this a 3 usable burner top October 08, 2010

    We bought this cooktop about 10 months ago and right away I noticed something strange about the 'turbo boil' burner... it seemed to burn just about anything I cooked on it to a cinder.

     

    After several months of scorched food I also noticed that the stovetop even quickly boiled water on the 'low setting' on that turbo burner.  I finally took it upon myself to take a surface laser pyrometer and measure the temperature of the burner.... the turbo boil burner gets up to 800 degrees ON LOW (compared to 280-300 degrees for other burners)...  pretty much hot enough to burn anything you put on it if you aren't very careful and if you don't plan to cook on high heat. 

     

    Low clearly does not mean low for that one burner and we're left with a three  burner stovetop with only one working large-sized burner and a high-temp burner that I can boil on only.

     

    Other than that issue this stovetop works great.  Nice looking, reasonably easy to clean but shows dirt very easily.  However I feel like we wasted our money in buying it...  we are really limited to just one full sized burner now unless we want something burned.

     

    I would not have bought this item if I knew the drawbacks.  I spoke to the associates at the store where I purchased it and they were as suprised as I was about how it worked.  Had a Sears-contract repairman come out to look at it and they said "this is how it works".  The sales associates did a great job and called the engineers who ended up agreeing with the repairman.  This is how it works... poorly designed.
