    A great looking range. October 13, 2011

This range has a very clean look with no dials or external controls.  Easy to clean.  Easy to use once you get used to it.

One major problem was that it was just a fraction of an inch bigger than my previous Thermidore range despite the advertised standard 30".  I had to have my granite countertop cut on both sides to allow it to fit.  An unplanned $200 expense.

There is also a slight fan noise anytime the cooktop or oven are in use.

On the plus side it controls the heat on the cooktop and the oven better than any range we have ever used particularly at lower temperatures.

    Never again! March 12, 2012

We bought this stove 3 years ago (whatever model it was then) on recommendation of one of the sales people and had constant problems with the digital panel controlling the stove tops. A lightning surge blew out the read out ilights on one burner, then another problem with the second panel blew out another readout. The third panel replacements arrived defective, as well as the fourth. The numbers did not display correctly. Fortunately we had a service warranty which I purchase because of all the digitals so we didn't pay for any repairs. After the fourth replacement, Sears gave us credit and told us to pick out a new stove, This time I am not relying on the salespeople. I've been doing my homework and decided to go with a GE.

KENMORE ELITE ELECTRIC SLIDE IN RANGE: MODEL 790.4671 December 15, 2011
    via sears_dot_com
    By teacherbarb of Springfield, VA
    Pros:
    Great looking,Great heat control

I've had the Kenmore Elite electric slide-in range (model 790.46713604) about five years.  The smooth-top is created withwhat seems to be extremely fragile glass. A small salt shaker fell from an above cabinet (about 18 inches from the stovetop) and chipped the edge of the glass, knocking out a small chunk about the size of a quarter. Of course, I was unhappy anytime I looked at it, however, last night was when the total damage occurred.  I was reaching for a one pound Maxwell House coffee can, metal on the bottom and carboard on the side; it fell gently from the above cabinet, and hit the glass top with the edge of the metal bottom. My stovetop cracked across the right burner. I couldn't believe my eyes at how easily the glass cracked!  It should not have happened for so gentle a fall, and from so minimal a height, but regardless, there were glass shards on the counter and floor.  The crack is about 12 inches across!

Additionally, five years into my purchase, before either of the breaks on the stovetop, the lights for the left burners stopped showing the full display.  Instead of indicating 1.5, 2.0, 2.5..., only the first number shows.  Therefore, the 1 shows two times, instead of 1.0, 1.5, etc.  I called Sears. According to the technician with whom I talked, It's the computer panel, which costs about $500 for the part alone.  This does not include labor.

Oh, I nearly forgot:  The oven handle screw came loose and fell out.  Were we were able to fix a seemingly simple thing like this by ourselves?  Of course not!  The screw had to be put in from the inside of the door, meaning that a technician had to remove the front panel of the oven door, screw the handle back in, and then put the door back together.

My husband and I are contemplating our options and considering just cutting our losses and buying a new range.  One guarantee:  IT WILL NOT BE A KENMORE.  I AM THROUGHLY DISGUSTED.

I DO NOT RECOMMEND.spending the money on this product.  So many of the features that seemed great in the store have proved to be a waste for me. I've used the warming drawer less than a dozen times, and the convection oven less than five. But, that's me--someone else might use the features more. I would simply tell anyone to truly consider their cooking style, before spending the extra money.

Kenmore 30" slidein electric range Stainless Steel. It is junk. October 19, 2011
    via sears_dot_com
By RichardSenior of La Porte, TX
    Pros:
    Great looking

This is apparently what happens when you turn designers loose without supervision. The oven is almost impossible to use., even after memorizing the instruction manual (which is poorly written & difficdult to understand). The glass top is very hard, if not impossible, to clean if even the smallest residue is left. Extreme care is required to prevent scratching the surface. The oven controls are a complete nightmare. Even though this is supposedly the top of the line product, I am going to scrap it & replace it with a more user friendly unit, even though it will change the looks of my kitchen. At least I will have something I can use.
