    Kenmore Elite 5.2 cu.ft. Top Load Washer Is Brilliant January 17, 2011

    I've had the Kenmore Elite 5.2 cu. ft. Top Loader Washer for a few months, now. I think it's brilliant. Originally, I thought all of the lights and gadgets would just make it more difficult to use or would make it more prone to problems. So far, so good. Incredibly user friendly. I no longer have to worry about unbalanced loads or selecting the correct water level for effectiveness and efficiency. I have the 'ginger' color and it's just pretty to look at. I actually enjoy doing laundry, now. The spin cycle seems to take the longest time, but makes drying time seem like nothing. I would highly recommend.

    No stars, does not get clothes clean. November 20, 2011

    I have the Elite 5.2 washer and steam dryer (ginger color). The color and appearance of this pair are really unique, but for the money the washer is a dismal disappointment. I purchased them in June. Hate the new technology and feel that my clothes, towels, bedding, etc., are never fresh and clean. The don't look clean, smell clean or feel clean. My white bath towels are dingy gray now even with bleach and using the hot cycle. For starters, there isn't enough water to get things clean or rinse the soap out. Sometimes the towels feel almost greasy when they come out of the dryer. I'm guessing this is soap residue. And adding extra water is a PITA because you can't do it until the wash cycle starts and then it's a pitiful small amount of water - maybe two cups. You can only do this three times. I would guess that under a half gallon of water is added. I want to be able to control the amount of water in one step, not stand there for 10 minutes and wait. I'm using the correct detergent and cycle. It would have been nice if the actual cycle on the panel was backlit for easy viewing instead of a blue dot next to the cycle. If I could return them, I would. My friend has the very same pair and has identical complaints. She now takes her husband's work clothes to the laundromat to get them clean in the old agitator-type washers. How efficient is that? Sorry, Sears, I had to give this washer one star only because that's the lowest rating available. The dryer works fine.

    My super large Kenmore washing machine does the job --- and does it well. I can watch the clothes through the see-through top. It is easy to use the despensers. It is a quiet machine.

    6 month old washer on its 3rd repair,

    sears service is terrible the repair people are just parts changers

    have a house full of kenmore elite products and have trouble with them all

    We did some research online and went to our local Sears store to purchase this washer/dryer set.  The new washer was delivered and I tried it out with a load of towels first.  I  always wash sheets and towels in hot water so I set the washer for the correct setting to see how it worked.  Checked the water temperature and it was barely lukewarm, not hot!  I did not like that at all.  Tried several more loads on "hot"  but water would not get hot, only warm.  I was told by a customer service specialist that this is how they would be making the washers from now on.  Supposedly the government is regulating how hot we can wash our clothes?  That is what I was told.  Has anyone else heard of this?  I just think it is unsanitary to wash underwear, towels, etc in barely warm water.  Sent both washer and dryer back and kept our Cabrio.
