    I love "her" March 28, 2007

We have had this washer for 1-1/2 years and have had no problems at all. I actually love doing wash now - we do 2 loads a day of animal laundry which is a lot, but it has held up perfectly and is like new. I have 3 small complaints, but they have not bothered me too much. 1. It's true that the bleach situation is bad - it WILL ruin your clothes or whatever you have in there, it just dumps the bleach in and since the washer never fully fills all the way with water like the ones in the laundromat, it is not diluted enough. Only way you should use bleach is if you have ONLY all white clothing or bedding in there. If you need to disinfect, use a non-chlorine disinfectant or use the sanitary cycle. 2. It does turn out clothes that are tangled. It hasn't ruined anything, so I have dealt with that. Towels and animal bedding does not seem to get tangled. 3. I do wish it would fill all the way with water - I think the soil would be suspended better, and it would make you feel like the clothes were really getting a better cleaning. Or at least it should have an option for a full water load. But I gotta say, everything does basically come out clean, so again, I can't really complain. No mechanical problems at all, it's super quiet and after a year and a half, I still like to look in there to see what's happening :-) I don't have the matching dryer, I have an old "regular" dryer and even though this washer holds more than a regular top loader, I can still fit it all in a standard, old fashioned dryer.

Do not buy. December 20, 2010

I have owned the Kenmore Elite He4t washer and dryer for a few years.  At first the washer was an awesome machine.  Now I am looking for something else.   Clothes come out very tangled.   Also the machine will stain some clothes and the stain will not come out.  Have been told that this is caused by fabric softner however, I do not use fabric softner.  The rubber rim around the cylander and the tray for the laundry soap builds up mold.  The tray never completely empties and water sits there.  Socks are always lost in the rubber molding.   At first the dryer was great but now will not completely dry anything.  Have to run it twice ALWAYs.   We had the maintenance agreement on both machines and have the maintenance done annually.....still have the same problems.  When the spin cycle comes on for the washer it will knock off anything that is on top of it and is extremely loud.

This washer has been well worth the money. This is a step up from your traditional top load washes but the money savings really paid for it. It cut our water bill almost in half on the front end and cut our sewer bill almost the same ( est. - 40 a month ). So 4 years in, it is paid its self off not to mention the savings in electric (this washer can spin out cloths at 1300 rpms clothes are almost dry before they go into the dryer. Its now been 7 years and we have our first trouble with it( code F06 = MOTOR replacement for us. 200.00 fix I did my self ). When we ordered the motor from sears they were in shock it went out. They said you can wash a load a day for 15 years. That was our problem, we washed 3 loads a day for 7years and we really put more in it than you should. We will wash king size comforters down to car mats, pillows to curtains, football pants to 15 pairs of pants. Oh this washer really cleans good even on the short cycles. While we were having trouble family would say go buy another, its been like an old friend you cant just throw it out. Since its been fixed we spend more time with it . We find ourselves gazing into its crystal door with a flashlight ,just like we did when it was new spin after spin. get one if can WE LOVE OURS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! HE4T KENMORE FRONT LOAD WASHER

    Pros:
Holds a lot of clothes,Energy Star
    Cons:
    loud/excessive vibration

Great Washer!  I have had this washer for more than 6 years, and it is still washing like it is brand new.  Definitely worth the money.  Large amount of space!  I have the bottom drawer as well.  It keeps from having clutter in my laundry room.  I use the skincare rinse all the time to ensure all the soap is getting out of my clothes.  It leaves my clothes feeling nice and comfy!  It does get a little loud if there are a ton of clothes/towels in there (during the spin cycle).  Still a great washer!

Better machines are available November 04, 2011

    Pros:
Holds a lot of clothes,hand/silk wash settings
    Cons:
    loud/excessive vibration,motor needs replacing

As much as I loved my HE3T, I equally HATE my HE4T, which I bought in Oct., 2005.

As everyone else has stated, the spin cycle is terribly loud, and the machine vibrates much more than it should - never an issue with the earlier model, which was only 100 RPMs less.  The bleach and fabric softener dispensers remain filled with water, causing mold and mildew to grow, even though I leave the dispenser and door open after each load to avoid the front loader smell issue that many have.

After the first year or so, I started noticing an oily smell which has not gone away after 5 years.  However, the biggest problem occured this year.

In May, 2011, it began showing the F6 error, which still occurs even after Sears "fixed" it 6 months ago, for $275.  Now, an actual repairman wants $300 to replace the motor and tach. Very uncool to shell out nearly $600 to repair a 5 year old "top of the line," $1,200 washing machine.  Unfortunately, I will have to do so, as I am selling my home soon and the matching set shows better.  Save your money and buy a real brand from a real appliance store.
