    Excellent High End Dryer December 14, 2008

    I've now had my HE5t set for over a month (I owned a set of front loaders--Neptunes--for 9 years prior to this purchase). I am very pleased with this dryer. The Refresh and Touch Up cycles work wonders. For instance, I did a formal tablecloth 10 feet long yesterday, and it came out looking wonderful--no ironing needed before setting the table. I also use these cycles on sweaters that have been folded on the shelf just before wearing. The dryer also comes with an air dry rack. It works wonderfully on hand washables. Usually, sweaters can be dried on this rack in about 45 minutes! The dyer also has a countdown timer so you can see how much time is left in the cycle. I am very pleased with my purchase, and I do recommend this to others. (See my related review on the washer.)

    Buyer's Beware Kenmore Elite HE5 Wahser & Dyer October 04, 2009

    I bought the Kenmore HE5 both washer and dryer. I was lead to believe that my life would be easier as far as washing clothes since we are very busy. I could not believe that within 6 months I already had to make a service call. Now at the 11 month I already have 4 service calls. This is a poor quality, poor performance, not worth the price. I will never and never and never purchase  Kenmore item again. Piece of junk for the price I paid for. Definitely not worth it.

    We've only had the pair for a month but we already know we didn't make a mistake. The dryer is much quieter than the old Kenmore we had. I wasn't sure about spending so much on a washer and dryer but they were at a good price on sale plus no state sales tax that week. Clothes are much cleaner and water bill has gone down in just one month, we'll see about the electric soon. We did have to switch sides of the laundry room because of the door openings but that's not a big deal plus when I was reading the manual the dryer door can also be switched if needed. I am also looking at stacking them which will free up room in a small laundry area.

    My husband and I were searching for a good dryer that would stand up to multiple teenagers and their mounds of laundry and not cost us an arm and a leg! We found a used He5 at a local Sears and we were very impressed. We had investigated an He3 and were prepared to go that route. I had qualms about buying a used model, but I can honestly say I am glad we gave this dryer a second look. We have done multiple loads already, heavy jeans loads, mixed loads, towels, blankets etc... (Once we started we just kept trying new types of loads to see how it would perform). I am completely impressed with how well it dries... no matter what you throw at it. The settings give us lots of options and it just flat out looks great... I think we may have to save up for the matching washer now!~ Everything looks great, feels great. I think this one produces much less lint than my previous dryer. I think this just may convert us to Kenmore fans!

    We have our laundry connected with our kitchen, dining and living so limited noise was very important. Every works VERY well on this machine. My inlaws had the older model of the same machine which i used for several months during our remodel. It was one of the many reasons I chose it over all the other options. My only criticism is that it seems to need a longer amount of time to dry extra large loads on the normal dry cycle. It could just be user error but I usually run the dry cycle on clothes twice to get them fully dry... pockets and all :)
