    We bought this because we have been lugging jugs of water from the store for years now and grew tired of it!  We have a baby on the way and knew we would be using even more water too.  We installed this under the sink, which fits quite nicely and also ran a line to our refrigerator for the water and ice.  The installation was pretty easy but my husband is pretty handy.  The people at our local hardware store were helpful too in assisting us with exactly what we needed (to run to the fridge/ice maker).  Was well worth the money, time and space lost under the sink!!!  The water tastes so good!  Tastes just as good if not better than what were getting from the big "fountain" at the store.  You will not be sorry for this purchase!  Say goodbye to those pesky bottles and that occassional trip to the store at 11pm for water!!!   I can not say enough good things about this set up!!!!

    CAN'T FIND FILTERS (MEMBRANE)!!!!!!!!!!!!! February 20, 2010

    I have had this for 2 years and now it is time to replace the reverse osmosis membrane.  I CANNOT FIND THIS REPLACEMENT PART.  I have been to our local Sears store, I have been to the Sears parts outlet locally and have made about 10 phone calls about this and NO ONE can get me a replacement membrane for this filter...  please be advised that you WILL NEVER BE ABLE TO REPLACE THE MEMBRANE on this unit as no one can give you the part number for this part!!!!!!!!  Please know that the entire unit will only last 1-2 years as you CANNOT REPLACE THE CENTER FILTER (MEMBRANE)!!!  This is very expensive water if the CENTER CARTRIDGE CANNOT BE REPLACED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Not a happy I had to buy a new system after only 3 years of use. It could not be fixed. After putting it in I first had no water to the sink faucet. After a service tech fixed, refrigerator has no water to ice maker. Ice maker was working before.

    Only 10 weeks after installing this unit the RO cartridge needed to be replaced! Of course, you have to replace ALL cartriges at the same time AND put in a new battery! Not as cost effective as I was hoping for. My water is not acidic (pH = 7.1) or overly hard (4 grains). Would not recommend this unit to others.

    Experience has been nothing but great so far for the first two weeks. Gave it only 4 stars, wanted to give 4.5 though. I couldn't give 5 because I compared this to another reverse osmo system at work and that water tastes even more fantastic. May be it's not fair to compare commercial to resendential.

    However, this did very well against the Multi Pure MPCT filter I tried. That one despite being more expensive, does a poor job of fitlering out the taste/odour in the water. So I had to return Multi-Pure and I am satisfied with the Kenmore's performance. I hired a professional Sears installation. I suggest this big time because even that licenced plumber ended up breaking the pipe as the pipes were in real bad shape. You could attempt this yourself if you have plastic piping. It's only been 2 weeks since I am using and am completely satisfied.

    I have seen some complaints about flow rate. It's pretty good when you get it out of fully loaded tank. If you want real-time filter water flow, then it's not good at all. But the point is, you will most often end up getting the water striaght of it's storage tank but never in a real time fashion because the system always tries to keep that 3 gallon tank always full when you get water out of the system.

    Pros:
    easy to install,eliminates bad chemicals in water,great tasting water,filter sensor = change your filter,Best water filter system.
    Cons:
    Replacement filters a little pricey.

    The water filtration is the best I've ever had.  Great tasting and crystal clear.  (You should see the stuff going in.)  There are some basic things in life for which I'm willing to pay for the best, and this is one of them.

    Another reviewer needs to chill a little on replacing the reverse osmosis (center filter).  Yes, you can find it.  Just put this number: 3857705 in the search field on the Sears website, and you'll find it.  You click through from there to the Sears parts site.

    The replacement reverse osmosis filter is $55 plus tax plus $14 shipping.  You can get the pre- and post-filters at the Sears store for $50 plus tax for the pair (put 04238056000 in the search field).  They're a little steep, and the only reason I give this filter system four stars instead of five.  The filters last about eight months.
