    Kenmore Elite ConvectionToaster Oven is attractive and efficient March 08, 2011

    I like this toaster oven. It serves all our needs for a small oven and toaster. It comes with a bake pan & broiler trays to add to the bake pan and a pizza stone which all fit well into the oven. When the oven is on for toasting or baking, the heat elements light up well so you can see the food. Occasionally the elements turn off and the light disappears, but not for long.

    The oven has default time & temperatures for toasting and baking. The toast default is perfect for us. If you want to decrease the baking default time which is 30 mins, the adjustment button only goes up! So you have to hold it down util it reaches the highest time setting (about 95 mins) and then it starts over again at zero. Not a huge problem, but it seems like there could be another button to reduce the time without rotating all the way through the minute settings.

    3 Strikes, Kenmore's OUT!!! May 05, 2011

    Went through THREE of these, and EACH ONE failed to work properly. The manual states that the Power Light is supposed to be lit when it's plugged in. It didn't on all 3 units I tried, although the last one, you could see it barely behind the fascia. It also states the display is supposed to stay lit. It doesn't. On 2 of the units, even the function indicator lights didn't work properly. I called Sears horrible Tech Support, and nobody there could tell me the proper functioning of the unit. Just suggested I exchange it. THREE TIMES the same problem. Otherwise, the unit works fairly. It was recommended by ****************, it does heat up quickly, but you have to watch it as it will burn your food if you use the recommended times. Also, as others have stated, I can not, for the life of me, figure out why the controls don't let you adjust the timer down, only up. Doesn't take a rocket scientist, (or a Kenmore design genius) to figure out that this would be helpful. Just POOR POOR

    Just bought and tried out this oven. The bread toasts evenly but rather slowly for the medium setting. The timer has a minute and seconds button, each only goes up. Why the hell is there no time down button? The timer starts at 30 minutes and goes up to 99 ... so to set it to 10 minutes, you have to keep holding the minute button until it loops pas 99 minute ... what a pain! Why would you need a seconds button??? Just make one up and one down instead. What a stupid design. Am considering returning it just because I don't like the timer design so much.

    I had the preceding model to this one and it is ALOT! quieter.  Also, this one you can adjust the temperature for the different modes and the last one you couldn't. However, on this one; not being able to adjust the time down, is frustrating!  As far as the other reviews, regarding burning food...the manual does not only recommend to set it for the lowest bake time but, you can adjust the temeperature down as well.  It's not the infrared that burns the food, it's the convection part.  I have a full size range and when you set it to convection; it automatically adjusts the temp. down 25 degrees.  You can also set the toaster setting in between doneness levels. That of course is by trial and error, depending on what you're toasting.  Plus, you also can adjust the time in seconds, by 10.  If you want to get that precise.  Another drawback, there are no guidelines for the pizza stone. It doesn't say if it needs to be seasoned or how to clean and maintain.  However, it does cook the crust much nicer and is  a great addition.  Overall I'd recommend it.

    1. The infrared is too high and it will quickly burn bread, biscuits, cookies, and pizza - there is no way to turn it off. 2. The timer does not adjust down and I don't know what you would want to cook in this for 95 mins that you have to run the timer up to get back to zero. 3. I haven't used the toaster on it - bought it to cook small meals, frozen foods but foods burn on the outside before they are finished on the inside. IF you cook something in it, do not use the recommended temp setting and reduce the time by half, watching it. 4. Oven looks nice and the conv oven I thought would be great for cookies and breads . . . wrong. 5. There are no shelf stops - pulling the pizza stone out the door doesn't come down far enough and the shelf dropped out of the slots and I burned my hand - safety issue.
