Overheats after 1/2 room January 17, 2012

I am on the net now searching for a new vacuum; we'll just throw this one away. We have had it repaired twice for the same issue, but within a month it starts acting up again. We have very short carpet, and run this on low, not extra low, to try to mitigate the issue. We have cleaned the dust collection area nearly every other week, but it will still overheat, triggering the automatic shutoff. After waiting a couple hours we can finish the first room. Rinse and repeat for the rest of the weekend and our vacuuming is done. Outside of the overheating, I find that this vacuum is good at what it is supposed to do, sucking up dust. It's likely that we have a lemon. We are now out of waranty, and with two kids and two jobs do not have time to run this in to a repair shop 4 times a year to trigger the lemon replacement. I would also caution that if you have more than a one story house, it is very heavy and the hose is not long enough/can not easily be stretched to be practical for stairs.

I LOVE this vaccum! It is very powerful and easy to empty. It has no bags or belts to replace and the filter is washable. The only downside is the weight of the vaccum but it is self-propelled.

The vacuum was a replacement for a previous bagless upright. This vacuum is much more sturdy and I like the sensor that indicates when the area is clean. There is the added benefit of being able to use on hard surface without the brushes rotating (works great on kitchen tile). It is easy to empty when it becomes full and the cup is pretty large so it does not have to be emptied too often. The only negative is that the wand is a bit awkward to pull out to use with the attachments. For the price this was well worth the cost and it does a superb job of picking up dust and debris.

I was hesitant to purchase a Kenmore because the last Kenmore Progressive I had, although powerful, had flimsy plastic pieces that would break.  I have been using bungee chords to hold it together.  BUT...I loved the suction of my previous Kenmore,  saw this one on sale, read the reviews and decided to take the chance.  

I?m SOOOO glad I did.  I LOVE IT!!!  It is a bit heavier than I hoped (for vacuuming stairs), and the hose for the attachment is a bit awkward (Ill get used to it though) , but it glides smoothly and firmly, has EXCELLENT suction (can't believe the dust and pet hair that appears in the see through container), and feels like a nice solid, sleek machine in my hands. I?m 1 week in, and so far so good.  The crevice attachment works amazing!

The front of the vacuum is slightly tilted down, making access under the couches and chairs possible.  The brushes stop twirling madly when put on the bare floor option, so I don't cross my wood floors in fear.  The canister is EASILY dumped (which is a GREAT improvement over the last Kenmore).

I can't say I love vacuuming and rush home to do it...... but it has become more of a "to do" than an absolute chore...and I LOVE the results.  I?m just hoping it holds up under wear and tear... but it seems to be well built.  I highly recommend
