The kenmore mini ultra sewing machine works perfect August 18, 2010
    via Sears.com
    By emarway of texarkana, AR
    Pros:
light weight,Good value for money spent.,handy
    Cons:
    no handle

My husband bought me this Kenmore mini ultra sewing machine five years ago. Of course I wanted the best and most expensive, but we could not afford that. I said, "I will give it try and after a short time and it breaks down I will just get another one."  Well, to my surprise, this sewing machine made me bite my tongue.

It does just about everything, from making a dress, to just fixing a tear.  It also is lightweight so I don't mind moving it back and forth to where I store it. It is very easy to use if you are a beginner sewer, but it also does alot more.

I had a little trouble with the tension at first, getting it right, and all I did was change the needle and I haven't had to do anything else since then.  It sews almost anything.  The arm comes off so you can manuever smaller items into the needle area, I just love this part.

All in all, I am glad my husband did not buy me a top dollar sewing machine because this one does everything a top dollar machine would do and probably better.

Great for craft work July 27, 2010

    Pros:
    durable,light weight,quality,quite,well made,Good value for money spent.,solid,cute
    Cons:
    no handle

I needed a small and fairly light sewing machine that I could move from one place to the other in my house. But I also needed something high quality and this machine was almost perfect. My only little problem is that it doesn't have a handle. But everything else about this sewing machine is great. I would definitely buy it again.

Great Machine for the Money July 06, 2010
    via Sears.com
By Marvi of North Richland Hills, TX
    Pros:
    Good value for money spent.
    Cons:
Tension needs to be set a little high.

I needed a lightweight machine to travel with and take to classes.  This machine has more than filled the bill.  Its power is impressive when one considers that this machine is only 3/4 size.  I have sewn very thin fabric, furry fleece, and heavy denim with only changing the needle for the appropriate material.  It makes a nice 4-step buttonhole.  In a pinch this little Kenmore could be an "only" machine.  It does sew slower than a regular machine.  The manual is easy to understand and shows how to put in an invisible zipper, but no zipper foot is included with the machine.  It comes with  an all-purpose foot and a buttonhole foot. Extra feet from Sears are easy to obtain.  The Mini Pro does not have a way to adjust presser foot pressure, but this has not been a problem for me.  Its bed slips off so one can use the free arm.   The feed dogs do not drop, but there is a cover for them.  It handles free motion quilting very well.  It makes a nice bobbin.   I have taken this machine to classes and it has kept up admirably with all the far more expensive machines.  This would be a great machine for a beginning sewist or for a young person to learn on or take to college.   All things considered this little Kenmore for what it is, is an excellent investment for $100 bucks -- can't go wrong.
