The KitchenAid Food Processor is an outstanding value! February 16, 2012

After a careful comparision of all the food processors on the market, I selected this KitchenAid Food Processor based on features and price. I could not be more pleased with my purchase of the KitchenAid Food Processor with the external slicing adjuster! It is a great value for the price and the KitchenAid brand stands up to its fine reputation. The external slicing adjuster works amazingly! I have sliced cucumbers, squash, onions, potatoes and even delicate tomatoes with perfection! I have tried slicing thick and thin and have not been disappointed yet. The slices are uniform and the produce is undamaged. I have shredded a variety of hard cheeses and have been very pleased with the results. This is a great way to save money and the ease of use with this processor and the speed of processing makes shredding my own cheeses my newest money saving method. The entire bowl unit is easy to clean and the storage cabinet is perfect for storing all the blades. Because of the blade storage cabinet and the way the bowl can be stored on the unit, it does not take up much room in my cabinet. It is light weight enough to be easy to handle, yet the craftsmanship and quality are outstanding. I look forward to using this excellent addition to my kitchen aresenal of appliances for many, many years!

many design flaws February 08, 2012

I was extremely disappointed with this food processor! I did a lot of research before ordering it and thought I had made the best choice possible but was much mistaken.

First off, whenever I tried using the little bowl, I ended up with food on the bottom of the large bowl too. So, instead of washing only a mini bowl, I had to wash two bowls every time! Very frustrating and time consuming. Bad design, KitchenAid!

Secondly, the way the lid is designed, food gathered under the rim every single time I used the processor- inevitably- whether it was chopping, shredding or slicing. Another  design flaw because I had to stop, take the lid off and scrape the food down every few seconds or so, wasting time, instead of saving it.

Thirdly, when slicing and shredding, regardless of the type of vegetable I used, I always ended up with big pieces of vegetable at the end which the processor just couldn't handle. Some of them would get stuck in between the slicing/shredding disc and the lid, others would get wedged under the rim of the lid, while the rest ended up with the finely sliced/shredded vegetables. Again, I had to start collecting the "debris" from all over the place, fishing it out from little nooks and crannies, wasting time and getting increasingly frustrated.

Fourthly, when I tried using the processor for making dough (for scones), which shouldn't have been a big deal at all, it overheated so bad that the bowl was literally stuck to the base. It took both my husband and me about half an hour before we managed to lift it off the base and discovered that where the blade and the base shaft meet the plastic had pretty much melted. It's not like I was processing something heavy or for a long time- it was just scones dough! So disappointing! Every time I tried using it after that, the bowl would be so stuck, it took all my muscle to try to pry it apart from the base! I gave up at the end and returned the darn thing. Thank God for Sears' return under 5 return policy- no hassle, so easy!

I could go on and on about the negatives of this processor- because there are more, but I will just say- save yourself the aggravation and don't buy this model! It's not worth the money!

I only wish KitchenAid would read these reviews and take notes because with  this product, they definitely dropped the ball! I have a KitchenAid stand mixer and I love it, but my experience with their 13-cup food processor was very, very disheartening. I am buying a Cuisinart next week.

KitchenAid missed the mark on this one - disappointing March 22, 2012

I, too, had many issues with this food processor. I previously had a Cuisinart and needed get a new one. I researched quite a bit before selecting this one and was excited about everything I read. Unfortunately, my experience is exactly the same as a previous reviewer; I wish I had seen the review before we purchased. "First off, whenever I tried using the little bowl, I ended up with food on the bottom of the large bowl too. So, instead of washing only a mini bowl, I had to wash two bowls every time! Very frustrating and time consuming. Bad design, KitchenAid! Again, I had to start collecting the "debris" from all over the place, fishing it out from little nooks and crannies, wasting time and getting increasingly frustrated." I plan to take this back to Sears this weekend and purchase another Cuisinart. Very disappointed.

I received this Kitchenaid food processor as a birthday gift from my husband a few years ago. I love making cheesecakes from scratch and I use a variet of different cookies for flavorful crusts. This food processor gets my cookie crumbs really fine for the best crust. I also use it for making home made salsa, dips, and chopping onions so fine that the kids can't tell they're there!
