    Nice Fridge but... November 16, 2011

    Overall, this is a nice unit. But it's funny how after a couple of weeks of use, some of the shortcomings have come forward. The double doors on top were nice, we initially thought. In use, if you open only the left one, neither will close properly and smoothly. (Tip: set the door alarm so when it doesn't close properly at least you will know before the contents all go warm). The shelves on the left door (due to the ice maker being behind it) are so narrow only a bottle of salad dressing will fit. An opened bottle of wine won't stand up anywhere--unless you make one giant shelf in the middle. We liked the long drawer for storing deli goods, but to open it, you must open both doors. All that said, frankly the best part was the Sears delivery team. As we didn't realize that our departing or arriving refridgerator could fit through to its destination smoothly, it took four guys (and two "spotters") to handle the job by lifting over the counter! I thought I would need to blast a hole in the wall and push it through the garage but the lead guy said his team could handle the job--and they did with superlative effort and good humor. That's why I will return to Sears again (and again)

    It is big but not organized well. There is no way you can adjust the shelves on the left door to accomodate any 1 gal container and still have easy access to the door's bottom shelf, thus rendering it useless. The shelves on the right door (icemaker) are very shallow and will only hold specific items. The shelving in the refrigerator part suffers the same deficiency as the right door. Once you adjust a shelf to accomodate anything as tall as a gal of milk you cause 2 of the shelves on that side to be too shallow to stand things up. It is ridiculous to have to put containers of liquid on their sides (chancing leakage) to fit them in. The freezer needed more partitions to enable stacking of frozen items. I made some myself by cutting apart a white plastic trash can and wedging them in tightly. I have to say it looks pretty good and it certainly makes the freezer space more organized and easier to use (not having to leave it open while I "dig" for the item I want. We are already shopping for another refrigerator/freezer to put in the laundry room to give us additional cold storage. If you have a large family you would be enticed to purchase this item because of it's capacity but too much of it is virtually useless. We thought that buying a refrigerator/freezer with the capacity of the LG would be sufficient but we were wrong. We would not make this purchase again knowing what we know now.

    If you like the whine of a rather loud compressor that stays on at least 80% of the time, this is the refrigerator for you I am told the refrigerator's newly designed compressor runs more but uses less electricity. It may use less electricity but it sure generates more noise. The storage capacity is fine as well as other features including ice making, temperature control, and shelving. An additional negative is that to access the "glide and serve" drawer (the primary area for lunch meats,etc.) one has to open both french doors. And now you know why you are seeing more french door refrigerators with four instead of three doors. In summary, this is a good refrigerator gone bad as the result of very irritating compressor noise. My bet is this compressor design won't be around much longer.

    This fridge is so big it looks half empty after transferring my stuff into it! So it will be great for parties, holidays, etc. when you need that extra space! Which is also why I wanted the 2 ice makers, and there's still a ton of room in the freezer, so no problem there!! I'm still getting used to the water dispenser, which surprised me with the fact that the water comes out in front of the lever - you push it with your glass and it dispenses from above! You don't get to see that in the store!! The doors close easily on their own without much push, maybe a little too forcefully if you're not careful. And the freezer does take a little effort to pull open when it's full, which mine is as we use a ton of frozen foods. But those are so minor that they do not overshadow all the great things about it. I've only had it two weeks - hope I love it this much in the years to come! (I am not finding a problem with fingerprints like the other reviewer.)
