Starting and loading the disc from standby is also quick, for more comfortable movie viewing. A stylish and simple menu design is achieved by using large menu icons and illustrations. Operation is also easier for the Blu-ray Disc player, which features a simple menu, thanks to its one-click action, you simply place the remote control cursor onto the menu item that you want to choose, and the menu proceeds smoothly to the next screen. It's easy, even for first-time users.

Panasonic blu-ray player perfect price May 10, 2011

Bought a new Panasonic Viera LCD HDTV and wanted a Blu-Ray player to go with it. Didn't want anything super fancy but not too far behind the curve. With how good this player makes regular DVDs look, let alone blu-ray content, you can't beat the price on this.

Doesn't have Digital Audio output November 01, 2011

You'll need HDMI to get digital audio, and if you have an older TV or receiver, forget surround, you only get 2 channel ouput.  Sales guy at Sears tried to convince me I could still get surround out of the two LR outputs. Ridiculous!!  I don't want fake pro logic in the age of 5.1 and 7.1!

Good Entry Level Blu-Ray Player February 27, 2012
    via Community Review

    Cons:
    No built in wi-fi

I bought this blu-ray player in March 2011 to replace a DVD player that was on its way out.  I just wanted something cheap because my fear was that no sooner would I buy a blu-ray player, it would be obsolete or something else will come along with better features for the same price.  I wanted a blu-ray player in case I ended up keeping this player for a long time and there were only going to be blu-ray discs (and no more standard DVDs) available in the future.  So far, this unit is great.  As with one reviewer, I also had the player hang up on me once during loading of a disc and had to unplug it.  But that has only happened once.  The unit is very basic with minimal settings to work with.  I have not tried streaming movies because my internet is not fast enough to support it.  I do wish it had Wi-Fi, but I probably would have had to pay more.  It's a feature i can do without because again, my internet is not fast enough.  All in all, its a solid choice, especially if you are able to get it on sale for less than $99.99.  I just which it had composite video jacks in case I didn't have HDMI capability on an older TV.  The thinking is that by now, if you don't have a TV with HDMI, you should get a new TV.  Otherwise, what is the point of having this technology.

Working great so far and fantastic picture quality. February 21, 2012

    Pros:
Price for the quality,The right price for this basic blueray.,Moderately low cost,Picture Quality

I have nothing bad to say about this player. I will, however, say that it's my first blu-ray so I don't have much to compare it to. I purchased this in October to replace and upgrade from a generic dvd player. For the price and what I intended to use it for, I believed it to be the best option for me. Again, the picture is great. I haven't used all of the options that blu-ray offers so I can't speak to the functions. However, if, like me, you simply want a great DVD player, I find nothing wrong with this particular one. The remote is simple and easy to understand. I tend to watch movies at night in bed so I keep it in there. Within a few weeks, I had the remote buttons memorized so as to not turn on the light to view it. Of course, a light up remote would have been great, but they seem to be a rarity these days. Again, if a good and fairly inexpensive DVD player is what you're looking for, I really don't think you'll find a better machine for the price. As with all of my electronic purchases, I purchased the extended warranty plan with it. I found that the price of the machine and the warranty came to the amount of what other stores were asking for the machine alone. I feel this gave me an added bonus. When making any online purchase, I shop numerous stores and all sales. If I've chosen a particular item to buy it is a product of usually 2 days of research.
