    Best HDTV for under $500 January 24, 2011

    I purchased the Panasonic Viera 46" Plasma HDTV, Model No. TC-P46C2, for $499 on sale at Sears. . . . . . . . . . . Assembly of the panel and included stand was simple. Hookup and going through the setup menu was straightforward. Altogether, maybe a half-hour task to get up and running. . . . . . . . . . . Once set up, the picture quality seemed even better than when we saw it in the store. The set has a "command presence" in our living room that doesn't come across in the showroom. The set handles action scenes well - no image streaking issues to speak of, and the viewing is great from every seat in the room. . . . . . . . . . . As to the reflection and glare problems reported by others, I'd suggest that's a matter of relative sensitivity. Glare on our previous TV set (a Toshiba) was much worse. So, by comparison, glare on this Panasonic has not been an issue for our family - even with sunlight streaming through the picture glass window next to the TV set! . . . . . . . . . . The internal speakers were better than I expected - more than adequate for news, sports, Cartoon network, and Disney channels that make up the bulk of our TV fare. . . . . . . . . . . My only complaint is about the remote control unit. With the lights off, I find it difficult to navigate by feel alone. I wish the keys were either backlit or glow-in-the-dark. . . . . . . . . . . Bottom line: Panasonic is one of the leaders in the plasma HDTV field and they didn't skimp on picture quality on this entry level model. You won't find a better all-round performer for under $500. Highly recommended.

    Great Price, So/so quality December 07, 2010

    Easy to setup with logical controls. Picture can be very good and can be bought at a relative bargain price....however it comes with strong negatives.  With day lighting, screen reflections are not noticeable; while in the evening' room lighting produces very annoying screen glare/reflections.  Using antenna connection, on-screen program information is very poor (about ready to dig out my old digital/analog converter box)   Not adaptable for PC connection.

    Most people will likely end up soon forgetting about the bargain price but remembering forever the quality issues.

    Purchased online on clearance for a great price, set up was easy and works great! Picture a little dark but it's in a darkened bedroom so not really an issue. Main problem was getting it in the car - the box was huge!
