      Awesome So Far!
Got a great deal on the ACT EllipticalTrainer from Sears online. It arrived as scheduled and It took about 2hr 30 min to assemble. I have assembeld numerous things in my 54 years--I must say, the instructions were the best I have ever seen and it went together without a hitch--did not even require massive amounts of beer! I have done 3 Ifit workouts in the last 3 days and the Trainer works perfect and is as quiet as can be. My girlfriend came out to check on me the other night because it was so quiet--she thought I may have had a heart attack. I will say the workouts on the Elliptical are much harder than on a treadmill. I feel like I am getting a much better workout in half the time on the Elliptical than I would spend on a treadmill. So far I am more than pleased with my purchase!

      DO NOT PURCHASE THIS MACHINE
We purchased (2)of these machines due to their compact nature. We had them both delivered and assembled by Sears. Within the 1st few days both machines were making a lot of noise, like pieces on the handle assemblies were loose. We called Sears and they sent out 2 new machines and assembled those. Within 2 months 1 of the units has a really loose right handle and the other one makes that clicking sound while peddling with the arms. We have the extended warranty which is NOT serviced by Sears and when calling NordicTrac was asked to tighten up the stuff ourselves and when I refused was told that I needed to get the owners manual out and tell the representative what part(s) were malfunctioning. I am not a technician and the owners manual is so detailed with all of the pieces and bolts. Come on. If I had known that Sears themselves did NOT service this item I would have NOT purchased it.

      Great workout

I waited a while to review. This machine gives a great workout without stress on my bad knees. Results a quick and amazing. As with most reviews, I agree with an annoying loud clunking sound! And there is nothing you can do to fix it, tightening or otherwise. Other than that it works great!

Works great. Easy to assemble, lay all parts out before assembly and follow directions (which are pretty good). One person can door the job but some steps are easier with two people. I have assembled two of them, one for a friend.

      I like mine.

I bought mine a week ago and have used it and like it. One of the selling points was that it was quiet. After getting it together there is a noise coming from the pin that adjusts the stride. I called NordicTrack and they are sending a new pin and parts no questions. Also I found it online with a Labor Day weekend special; called customer service at the store and they have credited the difference back to me again no questions they just had to verify that in fact it was on sale for less than I paid. The only thing I don't like is that every time I speak to someone they are trying to sell the extend warranty.

      Very satisfied!

For a reasonably priced, home use, machine, that gives you a great workout, you can't beat this one. We had it delivered & assembled for us & that was well worth every penny. My husband can go 45 minutes on the ellipticals at his gym, and had trouble doing 30 minutes on one of these endurance programs. I haven't been to a gym in over a year & count only go 15 minutes on level 3! We have plenty of room for growth into this machine!

      Love this machine!

We purchased this machine after deciding this was the year we were going to get into shape. We liked the idea of the small footprint with all the bells and whistles like a built in fan and ipod connector. My husband and I put it together in about 3 hours, and following the directions was quite simple. Since then (about 2 1/2 months ago) we have been using it 5 days a week on varying resistance levels, using the preset options. This machine really gets me sweating! I have already lost 30 pounds and have really upped my energy level! Don't wait!! Buy it now!

      worth at a discount

I recently purchased this elliptical and had a chance to use it a few times. So far so good. Whisper quiet and very smooth. Great variation in resistance. I would recommend assembling the unit yourself as the delivery men were ready to assemble it but honestly, I did not have a lot of confidence in their ability. They admittedly said that they have only assembled a few of these. The directions are excellent and if you're even a bit handy it should be a fairly easy job, just time consuming as it took me about 2 1/2 to 3 hours but I was very meticulous with each step. I would not recommend jumping ahead in steps as that could make things a lot more difficult. Overall a great buy and I got it at a decent discount when it went on sale.

      Great Deal From Sears

After ordering the trainer, I downloaded the manual from NordicTrack, read it cover-to-cover, and watched a video on the assembly process. I'm glad I did that because it took me about 3 hours to assemble, but I was taking it slow as to not make any mistakes. Others have commented about a "clunking" noise which I've not experienced in the first month of ownership--time will tell perhaps. Nonetheless, it gives me a great workout and because of the compact design, I have plenty of room for all other exercise equipment.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

Squeaks! And I just found out why!

We liked this machine in the store because of it's compact design. Sears would not deliver it to my door (something about me living too close to the store), which was not easy or convenient for me since we had to find a truck to pick it up and transport it. It squeaked at the fly wheel almost from the very start. We bought the extended warranty (thank goodness) and finally called to have it serviced. The repair man looked it over and discovered that water had gotten into the covered mechanical parts and it's starting to rust! Rust cannot be removed! It's even rusting from the metal frame! Now how do your replace THAT part?! This is probably going to have to go back to the store for replacement. Sad.

I liked the machine because of the built.

I have purchase this machine less than a year and I have been having problems with it making noise every since. Lately I have to call the repairman every month. I ask the repaireman when it get to the point where this machine can be replaced, he told me that I pass the time. This machine cost too much for me to have this many problems. I can't get my body in an exercised regiment, because as soon as I do than my machine break on me, I have to start my regiment all over again. I am sorry I purchase this product. Less than a year, I should get my money back or a new machine!!!!!!!!!. What if I didn't buy a warranty? You would blame me for it breaking down and I would be out of money and service?

      Disappointed

I first liked it because of the size and weight. It was assembled by the men that brought it to my house. It made a funny noise from the start, the men didn't know what the sound was, as a matter of fact, my machine was the first one they had ever put together. Well that was a red flag to me. However I had a repairman 'visit' my machine 3 times, he was nice, but couldn't get the machine to work properly. The parts sent from the Nordic company were also defective. I sent the machine back to Sears. Sears was wonderful but I'll not be looking at Nordic Trak again. Joined the Y. Their machines seem to work

It's excellent for the price, not quite awesome.

I picked this up about a week ago. I insist on my own assembly, turned out solid and all connections are great. Rides excellent, very good quality. Bought extended warranty so I can hold Sears accountable, I have no faith in manufacturer warranty by itself. I have one other NordicTrack elliptical and a NordicTrack treadmill, both have run great for years but I take no chances since there are plenty of bad reviews. Recommend checking website, price dropped three times the week I bought mine, store will not match their own website if it's online only. Sadly the website constantly offers free delivery and is 10% less expensive than the store. Buying this online may have mad my shopping experience way better. I bought the optional iFit add-on with it. It's a little cumbersome to get it activated and upgrade the software but it's nice too. I've downloaded several popular maps from around the US and workout, with the live street view rolling on my screen in front of my elliptical. It definitely enhances the elliptical but I only recommend it if you have a wireless network, and a means to use a web browser on your television screen, or a built-in LCD on your workout equipment. Overall I can only vouch for this product based on my own assembly, when it's put together correctly, it's an excellent unit. I'd give it 5 stars, but went with 4 since it's a review for this product for purchase at Sears and my shopping and customer service experience weighs ever slightly on my overall impression of this product.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

      NordicTrack A.C.T. Elliptical

I have had this elliptical for a couple weeks now and I absolutely love it! I bought it from my local sears and they delivered it and put it together for an extra $70.00 was well worth it to me. I love the adjustable stride. It is so smooth. This is my 1st elliptical so I don't know much about the ones at a gym. But, I do know this one kicks my butt. I have been working out for about 9 months straight and I just felt I needed something more than just the treadmill. This has really fit the bill for me. I like that it is compact and I like the side handles just makes me feel a little secure like I'm not going to fall of the side of it. The fan doesn't do much but I keep one on the floor because I really work up a sweat. I can't wait to start seeing some all over results from this great machine!!

      I like it so far!

Easy to put together, only took a few hours, when you apply the pieces you'll find it easier to fit them in most of the way and secure them the rest of the way with the screws. You'll notice most ellipticals don't have adjustable stride length, this one does 18" 20" and 22", you'll get a great workout, you can get the ifit adapter and download more workouts as well. The only thing I don't like so far is the distance traveled is not calibrated, I did 45 minutes at a pretty decent pace the other day and only traveled 1.6 miles.. Distance shouldn't be your measure of fitness anyways, you buy elipticals for the workout and this is a safe choice.

NordicTrack A.C.T. Elliptical was an utter disappointment

I purchased this product after being drawn to its compact design and initial positive reviews when it was relatively new to the market. After viewing its setup and taking a test run in the store, I decided to purchase it. However I was very disappointed after it was delivered, and ended up having to return it. The connection port on the machine did not securely connect to its power cord and the machine would not power on unless you "jiggled" the connection in place. ??Not something I should have to do for the price of this machine and the name brand attached to it. Other reasons:

CONS- NordicTrack would not replace the power cord per policy according to the store, and that the entire machine needed to be replaced or returned. I was not in favor of having a new product repaired before even using it, so I opted to return it. After taking time off from work for setup and delivery, I was extremely unhappy (there is an additional charge for Saturday deliveries). There is no incline option on this machine which I knew upfront, but trust me guys, if you want to maximize your workout and purpose for buying this type of exercise equipment, get the incline option on the elliptical. You will get bored quickly without this feature as I soon discovered this myself. Because this is one of NordicTrack's newer products, I would hold off until there are more customer reviews.

PROS- compact, lightweight, easy to move, easy to use. Free set-up and delivery seems to be offered quite often on this product. For those who desire a monotonous workout and dont prefer the incline, this product could be a choice.

      Louder than my TV

This thing clunks like a 5 yr old kid beating a drum!  NordicTrack sent a repair person.  He couldn't figure when the noise was coming from so ordered parts and replace a major portion of the machine.  When that didn't resolve the noise the story became  - - that noise is part of normal operation.  Well if the noise is normay why did we spend months waiting on replacement parts?

Noice can be heard throughout the house and is louder than my headphones can mask.  Good workout but NOT a quite one!

      Good design, poorly executed.

Starting at the very beginning, I would suggest considering sears.com for the purchase of any Nordic Track item, if only for their delivery policy. Sears will put the item where you want it, while Nordic Track will charge you a hundred bucks just to get it in the door. Next would come packaging and assembly. This elliptical is well packaged and the assembly instructions are clear. Allow plenty of time and be prepared for a large volume of refuse from the packaging. I feel certain steps require a second set of hands to hold pieces while they are joined. On the very first use of the elliptical after assembly I noted a clunk which always occured at the same pedal position. I spent several hours trying to locate the source and remedy it before contacting customer service. That began the misadventure. Eventhough purchased from Sears, Nordic Track handles all service issues. I have read complaints about difficulty getting through on the telephone, but I will say I always received a prompt response to email. The initial response was apparently typical. Parts were ordered and we were instructed to call to schedule the service call after the parts arrived. I was not home for the first call, but the parts that were ordered were not installed, and when I got on the elliptical, the clunk was still there. I fired off an angry email to Nordic Track and received a prompt call back from the service technician. These folks are independent contractors, and the guys we dealt with were very pleasant. However, they really weren't equipped to resolve the issues with the elliptical. More parts were ordered and a second call scheduled. I was there for that one. The first order of business was to install the parts that had been ordered for the first call. When he got inside the base he was uanbale to remove the crank mechanism to replace it. The bolt on one end spun freely but did not back out, and the bolt on the other end could not be budged. He took pictures and put it back together. After that, the bumps, clunks, and racket were significantly increased. The final determination was that my unit was unrepairable in the field. I will say, in the end, the resolution was to my satisfaction. While it was usable, there was a lot to like about this elliptical. In general the built in workouts start at low resistance and require high RPM's. I ended up controlling the resistance manually and came up with a killer 40 minute routine at a good pace. It would hve been nice to be able to program a custom workout. I found the heart rate monitor feature very useful, but only with a chest strap. DO NOT order the over $100 Polar one from Nordic Track. For around $30 I found a monitor made by Omron and the elliptical's console reads the signal from that strap just fine. In short, this is a nice machine that does not seem to be built for long term use. I am a cyclist looking for a way to maintain fitness through the winter months.

      Horrible customer service

I had the elliptical almost completely assembled when it became apparent that the main upright axle was not threaded, and the washers were the wrong size. After 2 weeks downtime waiting for parts, and more than tripling my assembly time (disassemble and reassemble, threading wires, moving spring washers without the right tool, etc.) and the loss of confidence in quality control, customer service appeases my frustration by extending my warranty by 2 weeks. Woop de doo.

Look elsewhere. The defective and wrong size parts suggest very poor quality control, and customer service is a joke. Also, when calling customer service, most of the time you are told that call volume is high, and that you should call back another time. When you do finally get through (it took me a week or two) you wait over 30 minutes on hold to talk to a real person, who then basically tells you too bad so sad.
