Great budget gift!

Bought this as a Christmas gift. The recipient enjoys using it. Not the highest quality equipment, but when it's on sale, it's a great budget gift! If I can get a good deal on one in the future, I may pick one up for myself!

Good for it's intended purpose

I think we may have put the owner of the Coney Island Restaurant in our neighborhood kids through at least a year or two or college with the amount of chicken quesadillas that my family was ordering. We were seriously obsessed with them. They are just so good! However at about seven dollars a pop ( and my husband order two just for himself each and every time) they started to really add up. We decided to try to make some at home. We ended up purchasing another brand of quesadilla maker, but first my mother in law loaned us this one from El Passo to see if we liked making them at home. So they're not as good as the ones from the a Coney Island. They just use more butter or something to get their tortillas all nice and crispy. That being said, they still were pretty good and it was a fraction of the cost we were paying to the restaurant to just make them at home. This has little dividers, so it's easy to cut your quesadilla in little triangles.

Makes it even easier to make quesadillas

Granted it doesn't take a rocket scientist to make quesadillas but this handy quesadilla maker, makes it even easier to make delicious quesadillas. It allows you to put a surprisingly large amount of fillings into your quesadillas so it can satisfy even a hungry husband fairly quickly. Our teenas have used it to make quick meals on the go that are healthier than food from a fast food restaurant. The only complaint that I have about the gadget is that it seems to take a little longer to make quesadillas than it does in a frying pan. Due to the speed issue, I'm considering purchasing a second unit so there is less of a wait especially when there are multiple people eating.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

Works great!

I really like this quesadilla maker. It not only cute with it's pepper handle it work really good. It heats up quickly and when the ready light goes on the quesadilla isn't too hot or too cooked it come out just right. Just a word of caution do not get carried away with stuffing your quesadilla it will over flow. When you close the lid and you see that it doesn't click closed then it's too full. There is a neat tray under the handle that does catch the over flow.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

El Paso Quessadilla Maker

My husband loves to buy me cooking appliances for Christmas every year for Christmas. That is fine with me. I love to try new things and I love to cook. One of the things he got me for Christmas last year was an El Passo Quessadilla Maker. I make a lot of Mexican foods and he thought it would make it easier on me to have a Quessadilla Maker. The El Paso Quessadilla Maker is actually a Quessadilla cooker not an actual maker. It is actually really cute. It is red in color and has a picture of a pepper on the top of it. It has a yellow zig zag design around the outer edge of the top of it. The handle is a pepper which is adorable. The inside of the quessadilla maker is non stick. So if you burn something it still just comes right off and to clean in all you have to do is wipe it down with a damp cloth. There is also a little catch tray below it so in case something has juice in it it will dribble down in to the tray. We have never actually had anything drip down though. To use all you do is place your ingredients on a flour tortilla and corn works too, plug in the quessadilla maker and wait about a minute for it to heat up. When the red light is on you should wait when the green light is on it is ready to use. Then place the tortilla on the quessadilla maker, and place another tortilla over the top of the ingredients and close the tortilla maker. The tortilla maker will heat up everything and melt the cheese. It will also crisp up the tortilla a little, or a lot if you leave iit in there too long. After about 2 minutes your quesadilla should be done, three at the most. Your quesadilla will come out with little triangles indented in to the tortillas. You can just take a pizza cutter and cut the quesadilla up along the triangle lines. The quesadilla maker is very nice to make really quick little meals or snacks. I can literally have a quesadilla in five minutes. You can put left over meats in them or what ever you want. I have even actually burned one in there once and the cheese squeezed out and got burned too, but I just wiped it off and nothing stuck to it which was nice. Others have said it is hard to clean but I disagree, it is really easy to clean on the inside. Of course if the top were to get dirty that may be a different story, but the odds of that happening are small. It is also less than 12 inches by 12 inches around so it doesn't take up that much space on the counter. It is also something that you can put away easily and take out just when you want to use it. The El Paso Quessadilla Maker is a nice convenient little gadget appliance. Is it necessary? No but it is fast and convenient and cleans up easily. It costs just $19.99 so it would make a really nice gift for someone.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

Easy to use Santa Fe Quesadilla Maker

This quesadilla maker is so easy to use and makes yummy quesadillas. The main part is sectioned off into small triangles so after you are done heating your quesadilla, it is easy to cut. The inside is nonstick, so its really easy to clean. On top is a warmer section. To use, all you have to do is plug in a wait for the light to turn green so you know it's warm enough to start using. Then stick in a quesadilla (a whole tortilla on top and bottom) and close it back! When you are done, just unplug and let it cool down for a while. Then it's really easy to wash off and put back in the cupboard until next time. The design is very festive; red with yellow decorations around it. Easy to whip up a lot of quesadillas in just a little time.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

The El Paso Quesadilla Maker is a one trick pony

My husband loves quesadillas and was given this for Christmas. We normally just make quesadillas in a skillet which works great. This quesadilla maker has nice nonstick surfaces and makes indentations where the quesadillas can be cut. That is the only good thing about it. Otherwise, it seems pointless to me. Yes, it melts cheese and browns a tortilla but my skillet can do that just was well. It is also annoying to clean when the grease gets in the grooves. If you like a loaded quesadilla this isn't for you as it will definitely leak out the edges. It works ok but my thinking is what is the point of having a bulky item taking up room if your skillet can do just as good of a job and is much more versatile!

Make sure to buy burrito size tortillas!

We love this El Paso Quesadilla maker once we figured out we absolutely had to use burrito size tortillas if you want to prevent the food from squeezing out all sides. The burrito size tortillas are big enough to seal all the food in, unless you overstuff it. You can pile up to a 1/2" thick of ingredients without it spilling out if you use the right size tortilla. This is very easy to do if you put your refried beans and other ingredients in the blender to get them smooth for the bean layer, or you shred your cooked chicken. I've made several types of bean, cheese and chicken recipes for my family. Overall, I'm very happy with it! It makes the quesadillas so crispy on the outside and perfect on the inside! Also incredibly easy to reheat unused portions in it, and they taste as fresh as when first made. It is also really easy to clean and not too much sticks to it. I highly recommend the El Paso Quesadilla maker if you are looking for a quesadilla maker that is less than $25.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

This El Paso Quesadilla maker is very convenient!

I got this for Christmas after my Santa Fe quesadilla maker stopped working (boo)!  I must say that the Santa Fe quesadilla maker was definitely my favorite, but this one is nice too!!  The Santa Fe is MUCH bigger!  If you purchase this El Paso Quesadilla Maker, please note that it is fairly small and fits the smaller taco tortilla shells.  It's great for small families or for appetizers!  For us, it was nice having the larger one - it made bigger quesadillas and worked better for us.  I do like the smaller, more compact size - it's much easier to store and it's not as big and bulky. I do love how convenient it is to make quesadillas - simply lay down the tortilla in the press, add your filling, top with another tortilla and close the maker shut.  It adds the triangle lines which makes for easy cutting.  It is fairly simple to clean - much easier than the Santa Fe because of the size. If you are big on appearance, the quesadilla maker is very cute - a nice red, festive color and the little pepper on the handle is a nice touch.  If you are OK with the small size, then I would definitely recommend!

I would recommend this product to a friend.

El Paso Quesadilla Maker great for appetizers

I bought my El Paso Quesadilla Maker at a really great sale price. I figured that since my family loves quesadillas it would be the perfect thing for making quick snacks or lunches.  I should have checked the diameter before buying tortillas, it takes the smaller taco size. The form in the middle does triangulate the  tortilla for you which makes it easier to cut. The quesasdillas are made with 2 tortillas  with the filling in the middle. Adding fillings other than cheese shouldn't be attempted as it is hard enough to try and close the cover with cheese only.

One of our most used kitchen appliances.

My daughter was always ordering quesadillas when we went out to eat so we decided to purchase one of these for her birthday.  I was very surprised how much we actually use it.  It is so easy to use and clean up is a breeze.  We love Mexican food and this quesadilla maker gets used multiple times per week.  We actually bought a larger one first but found that it was harder to find the larger (whole wheat) tortillas so we bought this one for her.

Only gave it 4 stars instead of 5 because I am a little concerned about the durability of the chili pepper handle as I did see it broken in one store.  However, we have not had a problem.  It would probably break if you dropped it on the floor but I don't intend to try that!  Even if it would break, it would not affect the functionality of the tortilla maker.
