Overall, others give this:
I had an old Black & Decker mixer that died, and I wanted to find another small but mighty mixer that my old beaters would fit in (so I could have a spare set). I found just the mixer in this one. Not only is it powerful, but it is much more quiet than my B&D one was. Also, I really like the snap-on container. I would recommend this mixer. Good price at Sears.
I tried to use this with its 'soft scraper' and the thing threw the potatoes I was trying mash all over the kitchen counter. Called Hamilton Beach to complain and was told I could buy steel replacement for about $8.00. I did not think I should have to pay to replace what to me was their problem. Tried again last night with a deeper pot and got the same results. The 'soft scraper' is a disaster.

This mixer works as well as I would expect a handheld mixer to work. I like the tool a lot and if it lasts for more than a couple of years, I would certainly think of replacing it with the same model when the need arose. The only con is that the case that it neatly packs into is made of plastic and they seemed to have made the mold a bit small because my husband is the only one that can snap it shut and I am not a weak woman whatsoever.
