      Kenmore Steam Iron 1700w
Excellent iron! I was hooked on the Black & Decker digital models for quite a while, but after constant leakage problems, I began to lose patience with them. Came across this Kenmore while looking for yet another B&D. I didn't realize that Kenmore even made irons. Best iron I've owned thus far! No leakage problems.

Would be ok if it actually worked

Not quite as good as a Rowenta, but still pretty good, except the first one was broken out of the box, the second one broke after 2 months, and its replacement was broken out of the box. No wonder Sears is having to close stores.

      #1 Rated iron meets expectations

Iron operates as described both by Sears and consumer reports. Iron is a little heavier than my past irons, but so far has outperformed all past irons including far more expensive ones.

      All functiions do not work.

Sprayer and Steamer buttons do not function. Have to take back to store. I'll get another one because I do like the iron.

not a first rate iron by any measure

Purchased as a replacement for my 5 year old Rowenta Professional iron which recently died. In comparison to the Rowenta: Function Cons: Weak burst of steam; wide rounded (rather than pointed) end does not glide as smoothly as a pointed end; cycles off frequently, although only for a short period of time. Ergonomics are poor! Handle is not comfortable in my hand and the temperature controls are positioned so that one's hand rides over them; oversize sole plate is clumsy to use; the 4 position steam control does not slide smoothly. 12' cord sounds nice but it takes10 turns to wrap it around the base for storage; it's unnecessarily long. Besides, the overall design is clunky and cheap and the manufacturing quality is low. The plastic trim is thin and 'bumpy' in places and C-shaped chrome metal bar on which the iron rests when in the upright position is cheesy looking. I thought I would never buy another Rowenta iron until I tried this Kenmore model.

Nice iron the second time around

I bought this model because it was rated #1 by Consumer Reports, The first time I used it, the burst of steam and upright steam didn't work. Back to the store for a replacement. The 2nd one works fine. I just wish the water pitcher was large enough to fill the iron in one trip to the sink.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

      Disappointing

Purchased this iron after reading its review by ****************. Took it home and found it must have been a returned item. The soleplate clearly showed that it had used and I found that the "on" button was really difficult to push, so I returned it too. Took home the replacement (same model) and found that the "burst of steam" and "spray" function didn't work, forcing me the drive back to the store again. Living 40 minutes from this store, I decided not to try a third time and just ended up returning it for a refund. I later purchased a Singer which I am very happy with and, best of all, it works. Outside of the problems mentioned, I thought the iron was a little too heavy at 3.5 pounds and it felt a little bulky. The best feature is the steam function. It is excellent - a nice constant amount that easily removes wrinkles with one pass, that is if you're lucky enough to purchase one that isn't defective like the second one I brought home.

      Kenmore Iron

I received this iron as a birthday present recently. After using it I would like to pass on to others that the light weight of this iron and the ease of use has made me quite convinced that it can be fun to iron again. I basically stopped ironing before this iron came to my life!

      Great taskmaster!

My previous iron was an expensive model (a Rowenta) that was disappointing. In my research I was looking for a more reliable, easy to operate model. I found it with this Kenmore steam iron. Plus, it was on sale when I went to buy one! This iron has so many features that I love. The weight of the iron is good .. not too light, but heavy enough to make ironing quick. The various settings make it easy to know what is best for each garment. The controls are VERY easy to read and understand. The steam feature works great and it takes regular tap water. I love the long 12' cord -- no more extension cords when ironing! The safety features with the automatic shut off and color bar to show when the iron is hot and when it is cool so it can be stored are a great safety feature -- no more having to touch the iron to see if it is cool. Although I read the owners manual, it was still impressive to see the iron light up when it was ready at my setting to iron. I am totally pleased with the results this iron provides. I would recommend this product to anyone who irons frequently as I do. This iron makes the chore much easier. Plus, I was happy to see the ironing board pads for sale at Sears since I needed one of those too.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

      Love it....BUT

Just got this iron and love it....BUT...right out of the box the spray function didn't work...still doesn't. Fortunately, I never use this function, Steam and burst of steam are GREAT! Worries me about QA if the spray never worked from the factory, but still LOVE this iron.

Kenmore Steanm Iron, easy glide and plenty of steam.

I alway check out consumer report before I buy any appliances. This Kenmore Iron replace a Rowenta. This Iron haven't let me down. Easy glide, great steam action this make a lot of difference for me. I can get my ironing done in half the time. This is one of the best iron I ever purchase. Take my word for it, after all I am 70 years old and I know a good thing when I see it. Baby this Kenmore Iron is the one.

WILL STAND UP TO THE HIGH PRICED IRONS ANY DAY!!!! LOVE IT!

I have used a Rowenta iron for years and actually felt like they were the best.  I decided to give the Kenmore iron a try because it was a lower price, and it far exceeded my expectations.  I have had other Kenmore products, including my Kenmore 22, and they have always exceeded my expectations.  Another great product Sears!!!

Don't let the appearance fool you although it does ok

When I saw this iron in the store I thought it had more steam vents than any other iron and would surely put out a lot of steam.  Actually, they are not holes. There are only a few down each side but it does a decent job.
