Great ratchet! Competes with Snap On's Dual F80
This is a great ratchet. I have this 3/8" ratchet as well as the 1/2" premium one. I also have the Snap On F80 3/8" and S80A 1/2" as well. This premium Craftsman ratchet competes with the Snap On ratchets. There are some differences between them though. As far as handle design, the Craftsman premium handle is much better than the Snap On one. The feel of the handle and the leverage you can put on the handle makes it better than the Snap On's, The 84 tooth used in the Craftsman ratchets is the finest tooth design ever sold by Sears. The Snap On's have 80 teeth. The Snap On's, despite having 4 less teeth, are still smoother than the Craftsman. The Craftsman premium ratchets are a great ratchet and with the lifetime warranty can come in handy if something ever goes wrong. The Snap On's have a lifetime warranty as well, but unless you're a shop that has the truck guy come by on a regular basis, you'd be better off with this Craftsman ratchet! Sears is 7 minutes away.

Too Bad
The feel of this ratchet is great, really great. However, the ratchet will lock up. Sears will replace it with a new ratchet off the shelf but it requires a trip to the store. I'm on my fourth one.

My Favorite Ratchet

This is my favorite ratchet, better than my Snaps and MACs. I own all 3 sizes. The handle is extra long for leverage and fits great in the hand. I wouldn't own the other Chinese made Craftsman ratchets, but this USA made ratchet is very nice, highly recommend.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

lifetime buy

I bought a set of these quality ratchet wrenches since a quality ratchet wrench is what everyone needs in their toolbox. If you're going to be putting your tools through grueling work, you want the weak point to be in the sockets and not the ratchet. These have very fine ratcheting mechanisms with a high gear count. Not to mention, this is made in the USA. highly recommended.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

excellent

Of my 80+ teeth ratchets, Snap On, Dewalt, Gearwrench, low profile quick release craftsman, this one is near the top. The long rounded square handle is great for applying big torque. The sealed unit will keep the dirt out. The low profile is the lowest of any I own. Finish is excellent. Caveat is that you can't use the Craftsman sockets because the smooth sides were made for quick release ratchets. I would use any sockets has that some recess layer or special gnarling that will give you a better grip. Flat wall sockets are terrible to remove when greased up.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

3/8 premium grade ratchet

This ratchet has a unique design. It is best for tightening because of the way the handle is turned. Better force and leverage. The fine splines gives you better range to work in.

Nice good quality ratchet

I purchased this ratchet because of the quality and feel of it. And of course the fact that it's made in the usa which is very rare when it comes to tools these days. It feels very good in my hand and I like the sound the ratcheting action makes. Another plus is the extra length which enables extra torque.I haven't had it long enough to provide any long term comments. The finish is also very nice. Good weight....not too heavy and not too light. The only con is the price however you get what you pay for. No regrets.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

Great

Bought this ratchet because it looked good and had good reviews from others. I've used all brands and types of ratchets and this one is a good one. Overall a great standard ratchet for the money, I'd compare it to be on par with a matco or Mac one. Only wish they made a flex head one like it, preferably a locking flex head.

Finally! Craftsman offers a decent ratchet that is made in the USA!

Recently bought this ratchet as well as the same one in 1/4. So far I'm VERY impressed with these. One of the MAIN reasons I bought these was because they are actually made in the USA. Actually not made by Craftsman, but made in the USA! Take note of that Sears and Craftsman! We like Made in the USA tools! OK so that said this ratchet has a very positive and tight gearing mechanism. Feels very solid when it clicks, no play what so ever. Also the thin profile fits in places other Craftmans ratchets won't. The extended length and shape of the handle is also nice. Feels good in the hand and gives you great torque. Craftsman, you did a GOOD job adding these to your line of ratchets! :)

I would recommend this product to a friend.

OK ratchet, but not better than Slim Profile

So I'm a hobby mechanic I refuse to pay out my hard earned money for the "convenience" of letting someone else fix something. It's sort of like flying vs driving. You may get to lounge in the airport but did you really save any usable time...and how much did it cost you. OK someone walked off with my Craftsman Slim Profile 3/8" ratchet and my wife bought me this for Christmas or Father's Day. I honestly don't like using it. Its too heavy & the handle is too long to take advantage of the high teeth count. It doesn't have a quick release button. I have two cheap long handle ratchets for breaking loose things and I usually want something light and nice to the touch and slightly smaller for normal clearance items. I actually tried to use it this last weekend and it was too big and went to the freebie forged craftsman POS and that worked. I also have a 3/8" AmPro stubby high tooth ratchet. I prefer to use that for an application that requires it. She bought my the 1/4" Premium Grade as well and that one is much more useful. Save your money & buy a Craftsman Slim Profile and if you want a high teeth ratchet get a stubby one for those tight spaces.

Easy ratchet

This item is smooth to work with and great for tight places that you have difficulty reaching. However, I found the claws or notches inside the ratchet to be a little off .

Best Ratchet Made

I picked up a 3/8 premium ratchet yesterday, have used about every ratchet out there including truck brands. With out any question this is the finest ratchet made. The finish is perfect, there were no blemishes, it reminded me of a high end German car in quality. The action was smooth as a Swiss watch, It felt perfect. Most important, I have large hands The feel was like someone made it just for me. COO is USA.

Junk, Junk and more Junk

Was "operational" for 4-5 months however the connection between Ratchet Drive and head became loose after only a few weeks. Craftsman refused to replace under their so-called "lifetime" warranty, no reason given why they would not replace. This was the first Craftsman tool I ever purchased, I will never purchase another one, I would strongly encourage anyone who requires a always performing, and a true no questions replacement warranty to use Snap-on (my personal choice) or Mac as they last forever, and provided you don't misuse them they last forever. If it breaks just request a replacement kit or talk to your rep and arrives a new one (or the new version if no longer being made). I should note "red" Snap-on are made in the U.S.A. they have a cheep brand that is not but all true Snap-on are made in the U.S.A. unlike Craftsman or Kobalt

constantly jambs

I think that for the Premium price that they charge for this Ratchet. They should at least give you a quality items the ratchet constantly jambs and you have to fiddle with it to get it working again. I had to take apart sometimes and reassemble at times to get working again. I have had teardrop ratchet in the past they seem to work flawlessly. I really am disappointed with this Premium Grade Drive Ratchet.

Premium 3/8 inch ratchet

This is a GREAT ratchet for the money, I got it on sale for less than $50. The handle is a little longer for more leverage and the gear ratio is low so it takes less turns to turn a fastener. I've used it in tight areas where there's little room to turn a ratchet, with this tool all you need is a little room to turn the fastener because of the gear ratio. No regrets in buying this.
