Sanding pads...here they are.
Thanks to the previous reviewer, I did find the pads at Ryobi. You can actually find them too at the Sears site if you type "parts and service" in the search on the upper left of the site. Any how, the part numbers for the pads are good on both the Ryobi site and the Sears site. The part number for the pads are on pg. 16 of the user manual. Here they are though..019001001023 = 1each 60 grit pad, 019001001024 = 1each 120 grit pad, 019001001025 = 1each 240 grit pad. As far as the sander, its not bad. I have not had it long nor have I used it much, but it does well on smaller to medium jobs. To me it's worth it if you by the whole cordless kit, but I would go with a corded sander if you get the sander by itself.

Hard to find sand paper
My only complaint is that this item requires a special size and shape of sand paper that apparently is not available at Sears. The closest thing the associate could find was for the "Mouse" sanders. Close but not quite right. Come on Sears... if you are going to sell an item that requires a special consumable, the least you can do is stock that item.

Good

I had a small project to do and was in need of a sander and since I already have a few C3 batteries I decided to give this little sander a try. I have to say I was impressed. Has the power to sand real well. It's lightweight. Overall not bad at all.

Works great

I have the other tools that go with the battery pack except the samder. It is easy to use and works great. Now my set is complete and I have made good use of all my tools. No cords to get in the way and I can handle the weight.

Does its job well

I've had this sander for a few years now and have used it plenty of times.  The weight even with the battery is manageable and not awkward.  It's pretty well balanced and easy to maneuver.  The shape allows you to sand large flat areas or focus on small spots with the point, and you can get into tight places.  I haven't had any issues with heat or wear, I just pop in a freshly charged battery when I hear it start to slow down.

The only negative I have is that the switch is a little awkward.  If I were wearing thick work gloves it would be tough to press the button.  The button starts flush with the housing and moves in about 1/4".  You press it in on the opposite side of the unit to turn it off.  I would have preferred a trigger or a toggle switch, but it's a minor beef.  Overall it's a nice little sander and it's always done the trick for me.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

C3 Pad Sander

Bought this sander as a result of a basement flood. My wife and I have been using red oak as the trim and because of the flood we need to re-sand before putting another coat of poly on to protect the stain. Sander is light and well balanced which helps the wife as her hands are not the best. Not the first C3 tools nor will it be my last.

Great Sander

This Sander really makes my life easier. It helps me sand anything, even in hard to reach places, and since it's cordless, I never need an extension cord or outlet to plug into. I just snap in the lithium battery, and i'm ready to go.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

For the price, this sander will do!!!

I've used this sander on several jobs. It helps if you have a lithium battery, otherwise you will run out of juice before the job it done. The product is tough and can take a beating. It has never failed on me and seems to be ready for more! It is a tad loud, but for a rough and tough sander, that would be expected. It is easy to clean (I usually blow it down with my Craftsman compressor) and has a thick handle to grip with your hands. For the price, it is a great deal and won't let you down!!

I would recommend this product to a friend.

C3 Pad Sander - just the right size and power

Picked up as part of a set of C3 tools, this sander wasn't used right away, but when I did use it, I found it to be perfect for the job.  I have other (corded) pad sanders, but this one was just the right size, had plenty of run time using the NiCd batteries (have a spare that you can charge while using one), and didn't lose the sanding paper like some others do.  The sanding pads are a tad expensive (at about $1 each) so you might want to consider buying bulk paper and cutting to shape.  For jobs that are out of reach of AC power, it's just the ticket.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

Nice sander.

It's a nice sander for the money. Reaches difficult areas without problems. Easy to handle. Don't expect to finish large areas with one battery, though. It spends a lot of time dying down. I'd be happier if it was able to squeeze as much juice out of the battery as possible and then just died rather than gradually tapering off.

Overall, though, I'm glad I have it.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

Sander lasted about 10 hours and burned up...no warranty

I have all the 19.2V tools and use them all but this one is a joke. Very light use and the thing burned up. I have had it for over a year but never really used it that much. I thought it would last longer with the little use I gave it for my small projects but it burned up. And of course, no warranty left. Sears refused to help me at all. Probably last 19.2 V unit I buy.

Inexpensive cordless sander

I bought this because I needed a cordless sander for a few projects. I have had a lot of success with Craftsman battery powered tools (drills) and this was a good deal. It would have been a great deal if it came with its own battery but it didnt and I went ahead and bought a battery at the same time that I bought this sander. I used it for a few weeks very sparingly and then when I needed it for some serious sanding I went to use it and the velcro pad that is attached to the unit came off??? I brought the unit back into Sears and they replaced the pad. I have since used it a lot and it performs very well. I wish it had some sort of variable speed control and a more rubberized grip to deal with the vibrations that this thing can produce. Also it would have been nice to have the battery a little higher up on the body. There has been a few times when I could not use this unit because of the battery sticking out so close the the sand paper. If the battery was about another inch or more higher it would allow for me to get into a few more spaces instead of having to rely the manual sander (my hand). the on off control is a little hanky at times.

Over all this is a pretty decent unit. I have been very pleased with its performance.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

Great little sander.

So I was in Sears before Christmas and was browsing the tool department. The saleslady asks me if I needed any help and I just said, "Nope, just looking". She told me about the 10% sale they had that day only.... Remembering I had a bunch of trim to sand in the basement and a bunch of C3 tools I took a look at this baby. Ended up getting it and it works well for that as well as other sanding I've needed to do. It does go through batteries but I think that's to be expected. I also wish it had a way to collect the dust. For sandpaper, go to ********** and get the Norton refills for the Ryobi. Fit perfectly and you don't have to worry if your Sears doesn't stock them. All in all, another great tool.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

Nice little sander

This is a nice little sander that is part of the Craftsman C3 line of cordless tools.  This sander is very light weight yet it also has a very nice grip which lets you have great feel and control as you use the sander.  I like the handle and where the NiCad battery slot is located which is out of the way as you use the sander.  Craftsman did a good job designing the layout of this sander.  I would highly recommend this sander to anyone needed to sand down large areas though I do prefer a random orbit sander but that's personal preference and not a knock on this product.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

Okay for small sanding jobs.

I've had this little guy for about 7 months now, and have used it on quite a few occasions. Most recently was on refurbish a computer tower. It was aggressive enough to go through a few layers of light paint, and some various bits of sticker gunk along the way. It was quick, without being hard to handle.

11570 corner sander 19.2 volt

sears only sells 60 grit over the counter, you have to order the 120 and 240 grit on line or over the phone. they wanted an $8 shipping charge for 8 pieces of sand paper which are over $2 each, this would bring your order to over $25  "a total rip off"  and the inconvience of haveing to wait a week for it to show up.

Effective alternative to corded sanders (but with drawbacks)

I used this sander over the weekend while I was refinishing some furniture for our office.  It worked very well - I'm a huge fan of the velcro pads as opposed to sizing and cutting sandpaper to fit in a sander.  It was very powerful for the relatively small size and weight (considering it is cordless).  The battery pack can be a noticeable change in weight over corded sanders, but once you figure out how to balance the sander and use two hands it becomes less noticeable.

However, the batteries (when fully charged) only last about 40 minutes under constant use with this sander.  I was hoping for a little more - as they take an hour to recharge.  This means that even if you're rotating batteries between the sander and charger, there's still going to be a 20 - 30 minute gap in between when one battery dies and when the other is ready.

Overall I was pleased with the performance of this tool.  It responds and performs with as much power as a corded sander, but with the added convenience of a battery.  I just wish it had a little more life in it, but for this price you can't complain!

I would recommend this product to a friend.
