Great for light use
Despite the tank size recommendations I've seen, this compressor actually works great for light impact wrench use, as long as you use one that doesn't need an excessive amount of air. My 1/2" drive impact wrench with a 4.0 SCFM average does a great job of removing and reinstalling lug nuts with this compressor, and it's certainly portable enough to use it places other than your own garage. The 1.0HP motor is reasonably fast, but does seem to require a lot of current to start.

Compressor seized after 4 months and almost no use

I had this compressor for about 4 months before the compressor seized. Luckily I had the receipt so sears was able to replace it for me. The compressor is loud and vibrates, but it does have a nice, solid stand. It really isn't useful for running air tools of any size, it is only really sufficient for maybe a blow gun and an air chuck for tire filling. I got rid of mine as soon as it came back from the repair center and upgraded to a larger Craftsman Professional compressor. I'm really disappointed that Craftsman would put their name on a product like this, it's garbage. Even the accessories are useless, except for the hose.

compact power

small and convenient, yet big enough and has enough power for air tools. Works well for a one man garage, I use often with the impact wrench or air hammer. The cart makes it easy to move outside the garage door while using it, noise control. It is also easy t use with a nail gun.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

This is a great little compressor for around the house.

This is a dependable little compressor that will handle small air tools like my air nailer and for pumping up car tires. You couldn't paint with it, but for the money... It's a pretty good compressor for around the house.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

This is not just a man's tool, we women need one too.

Women are finding more ways to make cleaning easier and more productive withh this size of compressor. I never thought about how many ways it can be used until I rolled it in the house and went to work with it. 1. Blow those dust bunnies from behind and under large appliances we can't move. No more embrassiment on moving day or if it has to be worked on. It can make appliances last longer when kept clean. 2. No more arm and shoulder pain from beating rugs. Just hang them up and blow the dust out of them. Your rugs look better and you feel better. 3. Blow around your base boards and behind the couch. You can even blow around picture frames and many wall decorations . 4.Refresh curtains and clothes. 5.Blow out those air vents, from a/c and heat to TV, games, computers ect. Dust can get into everything. 6. Refresh your mattres couch and chairs. 7.When you clean out your drawers, go one more step and blow them out. You'll be surprised what will fly out from the inside of a dresser 8..Blow out your dusty boots.I was shocked the first time I did this with my cloth boots and shoes 9. You pet would love their beds refreshed and it only takes a minute. 10. Silk flower arrangments can be done, just controll the pressure There are more things to be done, just give it a try and yor husband will have to get his own..

Craftsman 4 Gallon Portable Twin Tank. Great for small work!

This is a great compressor for people doing some weekend work in your home or your garage.  You will no need more capacity if you are not a proffesional fixer.  It is very easy to use and move around your home, becuase the dolly.  It is a little bit noisy but in the long way you will have a good help using air tools with this compressor.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

Best for the money

I have also owned this compressor for a few years and am very happy with it. Good compressor for the price. Between my neighbors and myself it gets used almost weekly. Love the fact that it is lightweight and comes with dolly cart. Anything bigger would take two people. Used it for trim, multiple construction tools including floor nailer and auto. It has always filled my tires easily. The tool kit it comes with is not high quality so I bought good blow guns and tire chucks on my own. The air hose it comes with is heavy duty I got a lighter one to use for most applications.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

used about 30 hours over 3years then died

Internal part broke causing a loud rapping noise and compressor could no longer develop pressure after about 24 hours of use over a 3 year period (I don't know what broke). Externally the twin-tank compressor seems well constructed but Sears must use low quality internal parts. My compressor was well taken care of, stored indoors in fact it still looks brand new; oil was not a factor. The compressor was used for tire inflation and twice for an extended period of approximately 2 hours each time.

Craftsman twin tank is not all that great

I have had this compressor for about 3 years now and here are my thoughts:

Works well with staples and brads. OK with a framing nailer and sprayer.

This is TERRIBLE for inflating tires however. I cant even get the tire on my wheelbarrow filled. So much for not having to go to the gas station every so often!

Low volume and its a good buy. Anything more and you will only be frustrated. Noisy as hell too!

Craftsman 4 Gallon Portable Compressor is truly garbage!

The craftsman 4 Gallon Portable Compressor is truly garbage. I wish I had read the reviews before purchasing. Mine failed at almost exactly the same service length and usage as the previous reviewer. No power - intermittant - maybe 40# of pressure. Hose rotting.

This is NOT a Craftsman quality product, Avoid At All Cost

The convenience of this compressor is completely overcome by poor quality. What a piece of garbage! Excessively loud and after just over 3-months hose was dryrotted, cracking and leaking (only 3-Month Warranty on the hose, wonder why?) After only about 15 hours of occasional light duty run time, Piston Rings shot, will achieve only 38# pressure. (and not because of lack of oil, yes it also requires oil). The 4$ to 5$ Ring set can only be replaced by buying an entire piston replacement kit for $33.95 + another $10+ for Tax and Shipping. Better pass this one up or you will be really sorry!

craftsman air compressor works good when it's not broke.

Bought this air compressor about 2 years ago.  It just broke on me and I had no warranty left.  The copper after the intake had a leak so I tried to tighten it and the copper broke off.  Ended up using a compression fitting to screw back on and its been good since.  As often as I use this compressor I would expect it to last longer than 2 years without a problem.  Maybe I'm being picky.

The Craftsman 1 HP Air Compressor is a good value

I really like the dolly because it makes it so easy to move around, and reduces the risk of back pain.  They say not to use it for more than 30 minutes at a time and to change the oil after the first 50 and 100 hours of use.  You have to determine what type of oil to use in your climate.  There are other maintenance requirements spelled out in the manual also.  I use mine for mostly for inflating tires, and blowing dust off of my outdoor power equipment.  So far, it has been a good product.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

I have bought this compressor on Friday 3-26-10 i used it on Saturday to sray a celing with sheetrock popcorn and also glitter the celing is 180 square feet i did not think it would be able to hold a constant air flow of 40psi but it did i was very shocked by the great performance of this i would recomend it to family and friends also good for contractors.

THANKS FOR A GREAT PRODUCT

Best small compressor to buy!

I came from a Central Pneumatic Oiless 0.2 HP, 3 Gallon compressor. This Craftsman compressor pwns the CP one. I like the upright design which makes it not bulging out like other compressors. The accessory kit was great. I'm glad they included that with the hose to make a complete set. It also came with oil as well so you were not left hanging running back to the store to get oil.

You must read the instructions when setting this up. You can't just plug it in and go. Instructions were good, took me maybe a little longer to find some things but I found them all.

This thing pumps really fast. I am able to plug it in and wait about 15 seconds and start using the spray attactment and while I was spraying the psi never went down. I love that!

The only con is the price. I wish the price was about $99. That would have been awesome!

I would recommend this product to a friend.

The perfect air compressor for the home owner.

This air compressor is perfect for the home owner.  It is powerful, airs up tires fast and is easy to use.  The wheels make it easy to move around and the long hose makes moving it not usually necessary.  It is easy to use with easy to understand directions.  I'll never have to use a gas station air machine again!  Now I check my auto tires regularly, air them as necessary which makes my car drive better and makes my tires last longer.  I also keep my bike tires tight and right.  I use an accessory to blow dust off shelves, and dust out of electronics. I don't know how I ever got by without it.  I highly recommend it!

No problems at all.

I got this as a x-mas gift and have used it to build a deck (framing nailer) and have did a complete trim job (finish nailer) along with plenty of other jobs and have had no issues.  The only thing I have seen happen is if you try to use an extension cord the unit will bogg out.  I make sure I drain the air after every use and check the oil regularly.  I have been very pleased with the unit. I really like that it is on wheels.  I did have to replace the hose, it cracked.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

Customer service was great. Unit seems fine, time will tell

Folks, the customer service I received was great! I was too early for the, "Friends & Family" automatic 10% off. The Sears rep told me to not buy this Open box item and to come back at 6:00 pm to save 10%. Ok I said. Went back and brought the unit home. Tightened down all the screws to make sure they were snug. Filled with oil, air filter installed, fired up and went to pressure cut-off. Not too loud. UPS is picking up my Allpower APC 4028 return sometime in the morning. Fired it up and it could not hold air. All Power manufacturer sent me a new safety air release...I installed it to only find 2 more smaller leaks elsewhere. So it is going back. Back to this unit. So far after 3 hours it is holding the pressure and a quick soap check at the fittings indicates no leaks. I am happy. I plan to use this item moderately. More than the casual user though since I will be installing 3 bedrooms and a Living room/hall sub floor with it soon. Also, paneling and other misc. work.  I am optimistic it will hold up. All the air lines are metal...my other unit, being returned tomorrow, had plastic lines. While the boxes from both indicate, "Made in China. I am convinced that the material quality is at least a notch higher on the Craftsman compressor. Maybe even more...time will tell.

Good Luck and Happy early Holidays!

Great unit for the money have not had any issues

So far I have used it with a framing nailer and stapler to erect a privacy fence around my back yard.  I used it all day long (9 hours) for three days straight without issue during this work.  I also used it to srpay the treatment on.  I regularly use this to fill car tires, blow off debri from various  things I need to work on, and with finish nailers.  I have read the complaints and have experianced none of them.  I have had the unit for 2 years.  I also bought one for my parents a year after I bought mine and theirs works perfectly as well.  Definitely a great buy for a do it yourselfer.

On a side note people regularly buy items and run it to death by not reading the manual.  Possibly changing oil and air filter could make a difference in your performance.

I would recommend this product to a friend.
