Sucks up the mess without a fuss!

I ran out and purchased this when power failed at the house the day before we moved in and the basement flooded.  Worked great and really cleaned up the mess quickly, allowing us to move in only a day later.

Now I use it mostly in the shop, cleaning up sawdust and other small bits of things.  Every now and then, I need to use it in the house to clean up a large spill, but not too often and it has not let me down yet!

The only thing that would make this shop vac better would be if the attachments clipped on to the nozzle.  It would make it a lot easier to keep the tools attached.

I would recommend this to anyone looking for an all around shop vac.

Cooked Motor
The Vac overall worked great for 87 days. It has great suction ability. I personally really dont like things made wholy out of plastic and was skeptical at first when I purchased it. Then the motor started to cook itself on the 87th day of ownership. It started to smell really bad and was throwing small bits of plastic out of the motor vents.

Very Good Vacuum

Plenty of horse power. The included utensils cover most needed projects. The filter will clog with saw dust or other small particle debris and reduce suction. However, the filter can be cleaned with water and reused several times. The filter is strong enough to endure brushing with a soft bristle brush without tearing. The wheels are not very good and tend to clog or drag. Since they are small, plastic and inside a shroud, they will rub against the shroud over time. Larger wheels would be a great improvement. Tool storage is ok. The newer ones with the hose retainers is much better. The included hose too short. Unfortunately many shop vacuums sold today, including this model, should come with a hose twice as long and flexible ( capable of contracting, like the one Sears sells with their wall mount 5 hp model).

Have a mess? Suck it up!

I've used my wet-dry vac for just about every hoe improvement project in my home. I installed flooring, taken down walls, added walls, built workbenches - you name it, I've probably done it - and every mess was cleaned up by this exact wet-dry vac. I've even used it to clean out the trunk of my SUV and the pine needles in my backyard. Great buy!

So Far Excellent Results

A couple days after purchasing the system I left the windows down in my wifes car during a rain storm. The unit worked great sucking up all the water in the seats & floorboards. Very powerful & I really like the large hose & attachments. Since I purchased the unit on sale I was able to add the additional 3 year warranty & still paid less that list price.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

Emergency Purchase

Bought Sears' top of the line shop vac to battle a flooded apartment. Time was of the essence and I couldn't get Sears staff to move much faster than slugs. The vac itself works well except that the attachments wouldn't stay together. They should have one long wand rather than sections that are prone to separating.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

This thing sucks!

I did a lot of research and looked at different shop vacs from various other stores, but this one was by far the best deal I found. Not only was the price great, but it works incredibly well. The suction is very powerful and I'm now able to clean my car in minutes, not an hour like it used to take. This is a great product and I'm definitely not disappointed.

Sturdy

We have 4 of these in use for our company. We use them primarily to suck heavy, wet sand out of pool filters. This unit has the power to do the job, and they wear like iron! We have tried other "pro" brands, but they don't even compare!

I would recommend this product to a friend.

SAVED ME IN A JAM!

WE WERE GIVEN A CRAFTSMAN WET DRY VAC  BY MY FATHER FOR CHRISTMAS ONE YEAR, AND I NEVER THOUGHT WE WWOULD EVER USE IT.  I AM GLA DTO BE WRONG FOR A CHANGE! THE WATER HOSE ON OUR WASHER BURST, FLOODING OUR LAUNDREY ROOM, BUT WITH OUR WET DRY VAC READY TO GO...WE WERE ABLE TO CLEAN UP THE MESS  BEFORE ANY DAMAGE WAS DONE!  :)  WORKS PERFECTLY AND EASY TO CLEAN.  COMES ALMOST COMPLETELY READY TO USE , JUST A FEW MOMENTS OF ATTACHING HOSES AND YOU ARE OFF AND RUNNING.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

Works great

Put it to work immediately picking up shingle and roofing pieces which my knuckleheaded roof contractor made a mess all over my back yard. After about an hour my back yard is prestine. Yeah, picked-up more than man-made pieces. Much of them were wet too. This vac is awsome.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

Craftsman 20gal.Wet-DryVac,6.5Peakhp is a Powerfull Vac,that runs Quietly.

This is one tuff machine. It will clean up any dirt left after finishing any project. It will also clean up water in basement after a heavy rain . I used this to clean up water after Tropical Storm Lee when my basement had ground water coming up through basement floor. This Wet-Dry Vac just kept running , not even slowing down. It also has a noise muffler, so it hardly makes any noise.

Good and Bad

This is my forth Craftsman wet-dry of the shop vac family. Very good vacuums as far as pickup and longevity of motor. I use them with bandsaw and sander hookups and I can fill the vac up on a normal day. Now this new one I bought Oct 28, 2012 has a couple of changes. New filter design makes it impossible to remove filter to clean the buildup off without nocking all the buildup off on the floor!! Why did they change a good design they had??? Think I will change mine back to the old style. Next thing is the on/off switch. when you take top off these models to remove filter or empty container you have to lay it upside down and it is easy to turn power on. I had hoped they would have added fins on each side of the switch to keep it from being turned on so easy. New exhaust defuser is a plus. Best vac for the $

Sears W/D20G VAC

Lots of suction.  Added convienience of a dust filter on the exhaust hole. Only complaint(s) so far is that it does not have a flat top that I can put stuff on when the vac is not in use and there is no way to wrap the long cord when not in use.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

design issues

I had an old model 758-17870 which lasted 34 years of light use; the motor buned out sucking water.  The old one had a circular motor that stuck up providing a place to wind the cord.  The new one has a sloped front so cord storage is an issue.  The old one's intake was on the top which allowed using standard trash bags to collect dust (making it easier to empty).  The new one's intake is on the side petty much preventing that.  But you can buy the custom filter bags for it!  It lacks a small brush.  I liked the way the old style filter attached   My old model used a small wing nut easily lost, but I have a second unit with a larger plastic nut which works just fine.  I don't see why it was changed. I  have yet to use it so I will update later.

Excellent wet/dry vacuum

This is a great wet/dry vacuum at a competitive price.  This is the third one I have purchased (the other two are still in use) and I am very pleased with its performance, and I purchased it because the other two have and still do serve me well.  The vacuum comes equipped with all the accessories that I have ever needed.  I strongly recommend this vac.
