The saw is great would highly recommend and the features are very good. Compared to the higher end comps, this is a steal, especially if you can catch it on the many sales Sears has for around $199.99. The LaserTrac is a joke and just there as an add on for show and just to say it has one, totally and completely 'USELESS', does not show up unless your in a very low light or dark room with no lights, then you adjust the wood then you turn lights back on for cut. Just forget this sliding miter saw has a laser and you'll be more comfortable making the purchase or for that, owning one. Sears should really recall this laser back and give us all a replacement to add on that reall works, what were they thinking? Bottom line, don't buy this saw at regular price of $299.99, it's really not worth it, wait it out for a sale price.
Got this saw on clearance ... Lazer is a little off but saw is of good quality for the cost you can't pass it up also purchased the stand for all under 300$

Bought this for my husband with the points we had earned. I love getting his tools at sears because with the points I can afford to give him more. He loves the saw and I'm love seeing projects get done.
WOW! What a terrific tool to buy for my husband. He used it to help our neighbor install a laminate floor, then he is going to do the crown molding in my kitchen! And.....it was on sale (bonus!). And...our children purchased the stand for it for Christmas (we have a 10" saw) which works just awesome. I am very pleased with this purchase.
This is an excellent saw for the price. When compared to other saws of the like, the craftsman saw stands with them. You get a very good quality product at a fraction of the price of the competing brands. One can never go wrong when purchasing and using Craftsman products.
I'm installing 750sqft 3/4 oak flooring and the saw has worked great so far. I did install a bosch 80 tooth blade since this came w a 24tooth blade. It cuts through the oak with ease. I am not sure why the laser guide has received some poor reviews as it is easy to see and has been a big time-saver since I only need to put one measure mark on the board. I also have done some mitre cuts on moldings which came out good. I would've preferred the dual-bevel but couldn't justify the price difference - with a single bevel you just have to think more about which way to turn the board. Finally with Sears points i was able to get a discount on the basic mitre saw stand which I'd highly recommend.
This saw does everything that i need and with great cutting power. Easy to manuver and set up. Stays accurate an seldom have to re align the blade. Makes accurate cuts.

Bought this piece of garbage a year ago. It is on it's second trip back to Sears to be repaired. The blade guard just does not want to stay on the saw while cutting. The guard has failed twice now during cuts. Each time catching the saw and breaking apart in my face. Not fun... Paid good money for this saw, I expect a product that works. Sears has failed with regard to this saw and their only response is to take it back to Sears be repaired. And that is only because I purchased the 2 year Master Protection Plan. Spend a little more money and buy a DeWalt or another quality brand. I will never buy another tool from Sears.

Within two months of purchase the handle broke and I had to send it in for repairs. But the most aggravating thing is the inaccuracy. The back fence is not even straight! The fences on each side of the blade are on a slightly different angle making it impossible to get a really good angled cut. Your 45's will never meet up correctly even when you adjust the blade with a protractor. Also the laser is insultingly useless. The beam is not even parallel to the saw blade.
This saw feels very sturdy (unlike the 10" saw). It operates very smoothly. It makes quick, straight and clean cuts. Included directions are excellent. I looked for months to see what I could find of similar quality for less than I paid for this saw ($200) and couldn't come close to finding anything. I am very happy with this purchase.

I got this saw from my wife for our aniv. as a replacement for my Ryobi 10" CMS. The slide is a great feature for cutting wide boards. The Laser on this saw is EXTREMELY accurate and allows me to actually use it with no problems. I am trilled with the overall performance. I mounted it to my Ryobi Mitor stand and it works perfect. The slide outs on this saw are great because they fill the space in between the Ryobi stand and the Mitor Saw. I'm going to purchase a few different blades because the universal blade that is included isn't great at cutting extremely clean molding cuts. No complaints.
Very easy and solid to use. Has everything you need to do your projects around the house. Cuts on angles, sliding, laser, etc.... Very impress! My neighbors are jealous when I first brought this out to display in my backyard to cut some trim for my home. Both neighbors from each side of my house came over and gave me good compliments on this. I use this with the Craftsman Quick Lift? Gravity Stand, the two fit together like solid puzzles. Very happy.
I was somewhat concerned about the miter angle assembly when looking at the floor model. It wasn't a smooth locking action, and when the set screw was tightened, the angle changed slightly. Salesman said they didn't have returns on it, and this floor model may have had a problem. I gambled and took one home. After setup I had 2nd thoughts, looked again at other name brands which were all constructed better, and decided to return it. It is the lowest price saw of this size, and if you are not doing fine work it may be satisfactory.
I bought this saw to cut crown. 2 weeks into the weekend project, the motor quit. Sears returned it easily and replaced with another unit. Started cutting baseboards, could not understand why things weren't lining up. After all kinds of tests, I figured out that the left side of the fence was bent, but the whole fence was square, so it was only affecting some of my cuts. Returned second unit to sears and will find another saw for future work. 2 tries was enough to convince me it was not just bad luck, but was mfg issue.
This is overall a well made saw. It makes smooth cuts, is easy to operate, and for the price is a great buy. My biggest complaint is the locking handle for the rotation base. The piece is all plastic, and easily broken. My piece actually broke on the first time using it. Fortunately, I purchased a protection agreement and am able to replace it, but you have to return the entire saw and get a completely new saw. Now I know not to tighten the handle very much at all!
I am a weekend warrior/DIY'er and this is the perfect blend between performance, features, functions, and price for my projects. The Craftsman Club price was amazing, too! Thank you Craftsman for another great product.
