great set

I am a diesel mechanic and have had this set since 2002. I have never had to have any of them replaced. I work with guys who have snap on and cornwell tools, and I can tell you first hand nothing short of 'easy outs' will take out allens that have already been rounded out, nor will anyones chrome stand up to abuse from an impact wrench. If you use these properly, you will have no trouble. And I will second someones earlier comment, I always tap these in with a hammer to make sure they are fully seated, and to help break the bolt loose.

Poor quality
Two of the sockets from the set have failed. One twisted under less than 125 foot pounds of stress. The other came out of it's socket upon removal from a bolt.

Well made (USA) nice holder, right size.

This item comes in a plastic "rack" for display purposes, but it frankly works pretty well for storage. I found an old stock USA made set, and with other USA made craftsman tools, I have and will have good luck with the tool. the new china made tools wont hold up nearly as well, so be alert when shopping, and try to find a NOS USA made set.

These items fit the bill. They worked effectively for removing stubborn hex screws without rounding off

Nice little set!

I have had no problems with this socket set. Worth the money and save a lot of time over using a standard allen wrench. I have used these with my 3/8" impact many times and have not broken one yet. Craftsman needs to make a set with longer heads for hard-to-access fasteners. Even a set with the ball-end would be nice.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

Craftsman Hex Bits

Bought this Craftsman hex bits when they were on sale.  What a bargain.

I know they are dependable for they are well made and very strong.  I know I can depend on the Craftsman brand.

I like attaching them to my wrench so I can get enough torque to loosen the bolt.

The hex bit attach perfectly.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

This Craftsman 6pc Std Hex Set is the strongest I've owned.

I've owned and used literally hundreds of sets of thes hex sets, and we that use them know full well they are prone to rounding out at the tips which renders the useless. This Craftsman set thus far has taken a lot of daily abuse from me at work and at home and have weathered the normal, and occasional abnormal use without much if any wear and tear. I've gotta say that my Craftsman tools are m uch more superior to any other I have used and/or owned. I love my Craftsman tools!!!

I would recommend this product to a friend.

Much better than allen wrenches.

Nice Craftsman hex socket set for a good price. However it isn't suitable for high torque applications. I broke the 10mm socket the first time I used it. It its defense I probably was applying close to 200 ft/lbs of torque when it gave way. As always Sears gave me a new one for free under the lifetime warranty.

craftsman 6 pc. standard 3/8 in. hex bit socket set

the first time i used the set one of the hex bits snapped right off, spent the rest of the day trying to get the broken piece out, i am very dissapointed with this product, i have been using craftsman brand tools for many years now and this product is the worst, the bit broke as if it was not heat treated as stated in other reviews, went on line to see if it specifies if they are heat treated or not and it did not say also no one at my local sears store knew eather. I did return them though and they gave me a full refund.

3/8-in. Drive 6-pc Hex Bit Socket Set

I bought this 3/8-in. Drive 6-pc Hex Bit Socket Set and they performed perfectly!

The only fault I can find is the case that they come in.  It is about 3 inches too long (for the labeling) which uses up valuable tool box space.  A cover with the label on it would be more efficient and still provide a place for the label.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

The Craftsman 6 pc SAE 3/8 dr Hex Bit Socket Set failed to work

The first time I tried these the one I used on a matching fastener twisted like taffy and broke with very little force being applied.  I have used Craftsman hand tools for over 30 years and these had to be the worst Craftsman tools I have used.  They must have made them with the wrong steel or failed to heat treat them properly.  I dropped what I was doing and took it back to Sears and they replaced it without a hassle.  Hopefully, they have corrected the problem because they did not meet my expectations.

good value

I've used these for years. Yes the bits are softer than a snap-on, but these are about a fifth of the price. A great value. Use penetrating oil and use slow even torque and these will last a great while. Used the 3/8 bit for brake jobs with an 18 inch cheater numerous times. It also helps to smack the head of the allen bolt with a hammer a couple times to free the theads. If your bit comes out, tap it back in. What's the big deal? I will but them again in a heartbeat.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

Craftsman Hex Sockets

Im a small engine mechanic, I have a set of metric and standard. I think if you get these on sale for 19.99 they are a very good deal and a good deal at full price also. I have had no problems with mine and am quite pleased with them.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

disappointment

I am very unhappy with these tools. I have had bits break under very little effort. The bits pull apart. They ruin allen bolts. When stuff like this happens, I have to take time out of my busy schedule and get it corrected.

Poor design

I've owned this bit set for over 20 years and I have been very disappointed with them. The shoulders on these bits are rounded so they don't grip the inside walls of any bolts you use them on. In my experience, Allen head bolts are a nightmare to begin with, and with the wrong tool, they're even worse. I have rounded out so many bolts with these things that I rarely use them anymore.
